Thirteen

Mark nervously sat at the coffee shop with Johnny and Yuta. They'd finally got a hold of Hyejin. Surprisingly she agreed to meet them.

Yuta asked "you ok sweetie?"

"Nervous, that's all. What if I cry?"

Johnny smiled at his son "then you cry baby. Nothing wrong with that."

Hyejin came to the table and sat on the opposite side alone. Leaving Mark and his father's on the other side. "Hi Mark."

He didn't respond. His nervousness wouldn't let him

Johnny held his son's hand "it's ok Mark. Hyejin like I told your mom he just wants to talk to you. He doesn't know if he wants a relationship with you or not. He has some questions, that's all."

Yuta said "Mark baby, just talk whenever you feel like it. Hyejin will be respectful and if not we'll leave. Ok?"

Mark nodded leaning on Yuta.

"I umm. Why didn't you wanna take care of me and my brothers? Like you came back twice and left as soon as you had us. Why did you do that? And don't say you were young and dumb or not ready. Dad has done an amazing job raising all of us and you're the same age."

Hyejin was quiet for a long time.

"When I had Jaehyun I didn't think I could be a good mother. I wanted an abortion but Johnny said I should just put him up for adoption. The day he was born Johnny had all the papers he needed to take Jaehyun full custody no questions asked. I signed them and left.

Mark nodded "and four years later you came back and got pregnant with me. Why'd you leave that time?"

Yuta looked at Johnny nervously.

Hyejin sighed "I don't have a reason. I think I just couldn't handle Jaehyun asking where I was and why I was having another baby."

Mark nodded "ok so. You left cuz a four year old wanted to know why you left and came back to get pregnant. Did you ever plan to stay? You stayed a little bit longer after Hyuck was born, at least I think you did."

Johnny said "no she didn't baby. She actually stayed around her whole pregnancy. She left like a week after Hyuckie came home."

Mark put his head down "so what the fuck? Were you just tryna hurt dad then?"

"I'm sorry Mark baby I really don't have an answer. I really wanted to come back like two weeks after I left when Donghyuck was born. My mom wouldn't let me because she was scared I'd leave Johnny with a fourth baby."

Yuta asked "wait Johnny did the boys see her parents?"

Mark nodded "for a little bit when we were little. Once Hyuck was about six we stopped going. Grandma said that Hyejin was coming back from wherever she had run off too. we haven't seen them since. I miss them"

Johnny said "you can see them now if you want. I'm sure Hyejin will let you see them without having to deal with her."

Hyejin shook her head slightly "my parents moved to Jeju a couple weeks ago. Mom didn't tell you when you called?"

Mark hummed then looked at Yuta " I think I wanna go home. She didn't really answer anything I wanted to know. umm Hyejin thanks I guess. I hope you have a nice life."

Yuta asked, "Are you sure sweetie?"

Mark nodded "can we just go. Please dad's?"

Johnny looked at Yuta "alright let's go. Did you think of anything you wanna do for your father son day?"

Hyejin asked "Mark sweetie do you think Donghyuck and Jaehyun would ever wanna talk to me?"

Mark looked up at her shocked "Jaehyun hates you. He didn't want me to come meet you today. And as for Hyuckie he wants to kill you. You hurt everybody he loves. And that's unforgivable in his eyes. Don't think because I wanted to talk means I forgive you or want you to be in my life. Because it doesn't. I wanted answers and obviously you can't or aren't willing to give them to me. So this will be the last time you see me and my dad's."

Johnny kissed his son's head "you ok?"

"Yeah I'm good. Just wanna go."

Hyejin asked, "Can I hug you?"

Mark looked at his dad's "I don't uhh I don't want to do that. I can like shake your hand or something but no hugs."

Hyejin frowned "I'm sorry I asked. I... I'll."

Mark said "bye Hyejin. I hope you have the life you deserve."

Johnny and Yuta took Mark to his favorite place. The little music shop on the outskirts or town.

The tall man said "oh hey Mark. You wanna see the guitar again?"

Mark nodded "yeah Jungwon. One day I'll actually buy it."

Yuta looked at Johnny "why not today Mark?"

"Dude no. You're gonna get me a guitar? Seriously?"

Yuta nodded "after what you just did you deserve it. Jungwon, how much is the guitar and what else does he need?"

Jungwon smiled at Mark before going around grabbing everything he'd need "there's a special going today so it's half priced."

Mark said "Jungwon dude you can't do that."

Jungwon ignored him looking at Johnny and Yuta "you can have everything for $250. And any repairs in the next two years are on me."

Mark gasped "Jungwon what!"

Johnny smiled and paid Jungwon "say thank you Mark."

"Man, thanks. I can finally learn how to play."

Jungwon hugged Mark "Come play me a song once you learn a full one. And when you get super famous make sure you tell everybody about me."

Mark laughed "oh dude this is awesome. I'll tell everybody."

Johnny and Yuta took a very excited Mark home. He rushed to Jaehyun immediately "yo Jae!"

Jaehyun hummed not looking at Mark.

"Dude, they bought me the guitar."

"No fucking way." Jaehyun hugged his brother. He knew how much Mark wanted that guitar. Either it went bad with Hyejin or Mark handled himself well and their dad's wanted to surprise him. Jaehyun will ask tomorrow. Right now he's gonna watch Mark freak out and try to play twinkle twinkle little star.
