Ace

Chapter 4

(it will always be Ace's POV unless I tell yall otherwise)

Trying to be imperceptible, I follow Keller Williams, my target, for another two blocks. I honesty don't suppose it's working, but I am too pooped to even care.

I didn't get too much sleep last night.

I see, well I'm just going to call him Williams, glance over his shoulder. He knows I am following him, I know this because he takes off running. I let out a frustrated sigh before I take off after him.

Why did he have to run? Why can't he be a really large, out-of-shape man who's running is a 90 year olds speed walking?

Nope, that would be too easy.

I run, willing my legs to move faster after Williams. I manage to cover a bit of ground after he slips on a newspaper that had been discarded in front of, what appears to be an old, abandoned restaurant.

I reach, trying to grab onto his jacket when he makes a sharp turn into the ally. I follow him but I have lost ground on him.

I pump my legs to go faster. There, almost there. I reach out again only to freeze when I hear a woman's scream. Williams, who had also frozen, takes off again. He's going a lot slower than before; I could catch him easily. I'm about to take off after him when I hear the scream again.

I stand there deciding weather I should help the women or finish my job. I am not Wonder woman, it's not my job to protect people that's what the cops are for. I shouldn't feel guilty, it's not like this doesn't happen every day. I have a job to do, a very important job might I add.

I take off.

Towards the screaming woman.
