I look down at the lifeless body surrounded by a puddle of crimson below me.
Jeremy Evans.
I never met the man before tonight. He owns a couple clubs here in downtown Atlanta. Or shall i say he owned a couple clubs since he's dead and all that jazz. I observe Jeremy closely; he looked younger than 34, and i only know that cause i had to do my research on him; he looks like hes in his mid-twenties.
Damn, I hope i look like that when im 34 minus the whole dead part..
His face is caked with blood from the bullet wound on his forehead. I can barely recognize him with all the blood; which is such a shame since he was an incredibly handsome man. I sigh and grab a card out of my the back pocket of my very tight leather pants. Bending down, I place the card just above his heart and move his limp hand over to not cover but hold the card in place. I straighten up and admire my work. The body lays surrounded by blood that is now beginning to dry in some areas. I move my eyes to the card in Jeremy's hand.
The card was my symbol.
All assassins had one. Some carved their name or drew something of importance to them on their victims. Assassins like myself choose a less disturbing symbol. Some people choose roses, coins, charms, or pictures to place on or beside the body.
I chose a card.
Ace of hearts.
Thats why everyone calls me Ace. I was the first and only assassin to use a card. Of course my card is different than a regular ace of hearts. My card has a large red heart in the middle of the card and in the heart is a skull surrounded by flowers. It has been my symbol ever since I was 14.
I take a couple steps back from Jeremy's body and give him a small curtsy.
"Don't take it personally, Jeremy." I say with a small smile.
I turn on my heel and make my way out of the alley. As I round the corner, I mumble, "Thanks number 212."
