eleven, the next day

I never really used Snapchat, maybe I should've because the fact that messages get deleted if they aren't saved. It's easy to go incognito.

I also hated that fact, though. That someone can just hide their sins on it. I still had the app, I wasn't going to risk being out of gossip. Which is why when Serena texted me on there, I was confused because the app usually sent me friend suggestions or was telling me someone posted a story.

serena_xox: hey, can we hang today? x

madddawggg: course x

I made my Snapchat when I was nine, hence the user being madddawggg, it was a stupid dare that Ava — one of my friends from Primary — had made me do at one of her sleepovers. We were close as kids, but then we went to different high schools.

Her family moved to Yorkshire, and I stayed here in Ardsey. I had always wondered what she was up to, I still had her snap but since she used to post a ton of stories and now is a ghost, I presume she got a new user. I didn't want to think anything morbid.

Serena texted me again as I was putting on my school shoes by the door, Mum and Dad didn't know what happened with her last night. Harry dropped me off, and despite me seeming to act mushy I acted as though we were just friends.

Besides, it would be fishy for me to suddenly catch feelings for the coppers handsome son.

Slowly, slowly catchy monkey.

serena_xox: meet me at the back gates? x

madddawggg: sounds great, i'll be there in ten mins x

I put my phone into my blazer pocket and rushed out of the door. The school was only a short walk, I just went out of the housing estate and then turned left and walked up the pavement until the school was in front of me.

The school building wasn't easily seen for the bushes and stone barrier that surrounded it, I always went in the back entrance which to anyone just looked like a metal gate that was painted black.

I walked in after some of the younger years that were talking about dating and having their first kisses, I remember how my first kiss was with Will. Not that I ever told Callum, I pretended he was my first kiss and Will pretended Lily was his.

It was in Primary, one of the dares that one of the kids had said during break, and since we all loved dares (mostly, they were an annoyance) we all participated each break and lunch. That's how Rhianna Davies got suspended for throwing her lunch at a teacher in Year Six, because one of Will's friends had dared her too.

And she dared Will back to kiss me. It was only a short kiss. We had both had a mint tic-tac before so it wasn't bad, it just didn't give me any feelings. It was just two friends kissing on the lips without any reason to do so. That's why it didn't count.

"Serena, hey," I greeted her, she had her hair down instead of a ponytail, her brown eyes were wide as she appeared to be thinking over something, phone in hand just staring at it.

"Rob texted me last night, he said some things about me being Asian. Rude things," I had a feeling there was more. I wasn't wrong, "Then he said he was sorry this morning,"

The messages she showed were on Snapchat, so I offered to get my phone out and take a picture to send to her. Besides, it's good to give some evidence to Harry as well.

rob_poll: ur such a bitch, can't even take a little bit of fun without tears
rob_poll: ching-chong bitch

serena_xox: i'm sorry x

rob_poll: whatever slut

serena_xox: whatever

rob_poll: serena, I'm sorry
rob_poll: meet me outside the buses after schl??
rob_poll: pls

"Do I block him?" Serena asked after I sent through the photos, to which I shrugged.

"It's up to you. I can't promise you Rob will say anything good, though,"

"I think I want to see him after school, but I don't know," Serena said, and if I could've seen my face I'm sure it would've been shocked.

"I think you shouldn't, I wouldn't trust him after last night and those texts,"

"But I really liked him and... and..."

"Your just clutching at straws now," i said to Serena in my best Mum-voice that was having an attempt at being comforting, "How about I go with you?"

Serena smiled, the only confirmation I needed.

"Thank you, Maddie," she said, before putting her phone in her blazer, "I'm going to go find Hallie, so see you outside room 12 after last period?"

"Yeah, sounds great."

I watched Serena bounce off, clutching her backpack straps as her spirits were high. If Callum had ever said the same sort of things to me, I would've believed him. I see why Serena thinks he might actually make up for his actions.

I hope he did, but the other part of me wanted him to do the opposite. A sweet girl like her deserves much better than a man like Rob.

maddie: serena's okay, she wants to meet w
rob after schl so i'll b w her

There wasn't much point sending that to Harry, since he only left me on read anyways.

That man really had no idea what to send in a text, and the thought made me almost smile. I stopped myself and instead spotted Lily on the playground and went over to her.

I couldn't afford to start kicking my feet and twirling my hair at the mere mention of Harry Brentwood.
