The Wheel Of Fate Is Turning!
Rebel One!
ACTION!

The air was heavy as Urias trudged through the muddied swamp. His clothes were damp with sweat and covered in mud and grime, but his one eye remained fixated on his target. Slowly, silently, he sunk back down into the swampy water, careful not to make a single sound.

His target, a loan-dodger by the name of Polaris, stood just a few hundred feet ahead of him, totally unaware of his presence as he tried (and failed) to hide himself from the bounty hunters he was certain were after him. Unfortunately for him, he was right.

Urias sat perfectly still for another hour in the swamp water, waiting until nightfall to make his move. Finally, when night came and the only visible thing for miles was the light of Polaris's campfire, he closed the distance, quietly wading through the muck and water.

He emerged onto the shore about twenty feet from Polaris, silently stepping towards him. He drew a large knife from his drop-leg sheath, and held it at the ready. Once he was only a few feet away, he made his move.

In an instant he had Polaris' headlocked, and his arms restrained. His screams were muffled by Urias' broad forearms pushing against his face. "Keep quiet." He muttered, but he continued to scream.

Urias let out a sigh and held his knife to Polaris' throat. Immediately, he shut up. "That's what I thought." Urias grunted, putting the knife away. He restrained his arms and legs, before hefting him over his shoulder. He began to walk away, intent on returning to his vehicle.

"Hey!"

He stopped immediately as the voice called out to him. He'd know that tone anywhere. He turned around and, just as expected, was met with the emerald green stare of Bridget, a fellow bounty hunter and his self-proclaimed "Rival". At least, that's what she liked to call herself.

Her sandy-blonde hair swayed as she put their hands to her hips. "You know that was my bounty!" She said, clearly upset. Urias raised an eyebrow. "And? You should've been here earlier." He answered, starting to walk away.

"Wha-Hey! Don't walk away from me!" She hurried after Urias, trudging through the muck behind him. "Ewww...." She muttered, glancing down at her mud soaked clothes. Urias couldn't help but chuckle. "It's not funny! Now hand over the bounty!" She stuck out her hand.

"No." Urias answered, continuing to walk. "But I've been tracking him for days!" "I don't care." Uris answered. An angry hum sounded from Bridget's lips. "Mmmmmmu....Why are you so mean?!" Urias didn't answer.

"Seriously, drop him. I'll have Roger take him from you if you don't!" The aforementioned living teddy bear crawled onto her shoulder, ready to pounce. "If that bear touches me, I'll gut him." Urias threatened, and Bridget stepped back, holding Roger close to her. "You wouldn't dare!" She said incredulously. "Try me." Was Urias's answer.

She followed silently behind him for a while, until he finally arrived at his parked motorcycle. He stuffed the bounty into the sidecar and mounted it. "W-Wait!" Bridget called after him. He looked at her. "Are you going back to the P.W.A.B?" He nodded, and she nervously shuffled her feet. "Can I come with you?" "No." He answered immediately, and Bridget looked on the verge of tears.

"Please? I walked here, I don't wanna walk all the way back!" He looked at her for a moment, then started the engine. "Are you seriously gonna just leave a fellow bounty hunter?" "Yes." "What happened to the bounty hunters code?!" "You made that up."

He revved his engine, and began to turn back towards the dirt road that would eventually lead out of the swamp. As he went down, he stopped suddenly, turning back to Bridget. He looked at her for a few moments, then sighed, motioning for her to get on. "Yes!" She pumped her arms, and hopped on behind him. "I knew you had a heart under there!" "Shut up." He answered, starting back towards the P.W.A.B.

Fortunately, Bridget was mostly quiet on the way there, only speaking up to ask a few questions, to which Urias's response would be either silence or a grunt. Eventually, the swamps gave way to forest, the forest to the city, and within the towering buildings sat the P.W.A.B, or Post War Administration Bureau. Or, better to say, the entrance to it. From the outsides it appeared as a standard business office, and to some degree, it was. It was only what goes on in the lower floors that caused it to be hidden.

Urias parked his bike at the side of the building and hoisted his prisoner over his shoulder, carrying him inside. Bridget followed him, albeit somewhat hesitantly. He entered the concrete tower and immediately took a left, going down a large staircase that was flanked by two bodyguards. At this point, any normal person would be stopped and requested (or forced, depending on the day) to return, but they recognized them both as bounty hunters, and so let them pass.

The true site of the Bureau was actually rather simple looking. Lines of receptionists sat in small cubicles, assisting the bounty hunters both in returning their bounties and selecting them. Off to the right side was processing, where most targets would be left to the Bureau.

Urias dropped his target (literally) into processing, and swiftly moved to an open receptionist. Bridget, unsure of what to do exactly, continued to follow him. "Hello Mr.Urias. I see you've turned in your target today." The receptionist spoke, her tone full of forced optimism. "Mhm." Was Urias's only response.

The receptionist clacked on her keyboard for a few minutes, then spoke again. "Alright! Your payment has been processed and added to your account! We have a few more targets available if you'd like to-" "Yes." Urias interrupted, and the receptionist's eye twitched. "...Right, well, which one would you like to pursue? We have-" "The most expensive one." Her eye twitched again.

"...Of course..." She spoke through gritted teeth, and Bridget's heart went out to her. She knew all too well how difficult it was to interact with Urias. "Well, that one would be a Mr.Evan Harris, who is currently on the run for..." her smile faltered for a moment. "Mass murder..." "I'll take it." Urias responded, not a hint of sympathy in his voice.

She clicked on her computer for a moment, then shook her head. "I'm sorry sir, it seems that you need to have a partner for this bounty." "....What?" He asked. "The higher ups have deemed this individual too dangerous for a single bounty hunter, so they require a team of at least two." He sat still for a few moments, dragging his teeth back and forth. Then, he slowly turned towards Bridget. She looked at him confused as he stared at her, then he sighed, very clearly annoyed. He turned back to the receptionist and jerked his thumb back towards Bridget. "They're with me." "Wha!?-" Bridget could barely get a word out before the receptionist clicked her keyboard. "Alrighty then! It's been issued. Good luck, you two!"

Urias stood up and grabbed the still protesting Bridget by the arm, nearly dragging her out of the P.W.A.B. Without them even getting a word in, he spoke in an angry mutter. "You will listen when I tell you to do something, and do it immediately. If you wander off, or don't do what I tell you when I tell you, I'll leave you behind in a second." He paused. "And if I tell you to drop your shit and run, you run. Don't look back for me, or wait, you run until you're certain it's safe. Got it?"

She had many words she wanted to say, but that last requirement took the anger from her. "R-right..." She finally answered, and he nodded. "Good." The moment they exited the building, Urias' phone buzzed, informing him of the last known location of his target, a small town a good 300 miles from their location. "That's a long way away..." Bridget said hesitantly, but Urias only shrugged. He got on his bike and Bridget sat behind him, but he didn't go. After a few moments,Bridget looked at him confused. "Why aren't we-" "Put your arms around my waist."

"What?!" Bridget's face flared red, but Urias just sighed, grabbing both her arms and wrapping them around his midsection. "If you sit like that, you'll fall off. And I'm not going to stop to pick you back up." Bridget didn't respond, her nerves still shot from the sudden touch, so he just sighed and began heading to their destination.
