Three little dots appeared at the bottom of the screen, making Sanya's heartbeat quicken.
"I'm here..." it said.
Sanya had never felt so many things at once before. She felt a layer of sweat form along the palm of her hands, activated in an anticipation of what could be. She slowly closed her laptop and finally let go of the façade of caring about homework she'd held onto the entire evening. She stood up from her desk scanning her room to see if there was anything she needed in that moment.
She caught her reflection in the mirror, and the girl the mirror who looked back had a giddy expression. Her lips held the biggest smile she'd had in a while. She let out a small yelp of happiness, before pulling her hands together to get her heartbeat under control.
Her lips needed more moisture.
Did her braids look good? Maybe she should've done a side swoop.
She was in a regular outfit. How did her breath smell? She grabbed strawberry gum and popped it into her mouth before facing her reflection again. Sanya had liked a lot of guys her whole life, although she'd never admitted to any of those feelings. It always felt like too much of a risk, especially for something she wasn't sure about.
But Kyle was different. She wanted it all with him. Sanya had never truly been a romantic, but she wanted moonlit dances and sunrises with him. All that there were to be experienced, she could not think of anyone who made them as exciting. With fully glossed lips, Sanya finally made her way to the front door, hoping that her sweat didn't leave obvious marks around her armpits.
"Hi Sanya " Kyle said when he saw her asking in.
Kyle was leaning against his black car. God, he liked this girl. He loved the smile that lit up her face every time he said her name. He loved the twinkle in her eyes when they met his. Sanya walked right up to him with a smile that matched his and wrapped her arms around him.
"You're here" she said slowly leaning away from him.
"I am" he replied.
"I'm glad you are," she replied and stepped close to him. She craned her neck to meet his eyes.
"I'm glad you're here" he replied. Almost instinctively, Sanya reached out to play with his hoodie strings, almost too shy to do anything else.
"Sanya?"
"Yes, Kyle" she replied and looked into his eyes.He felt like his face was betraying all the emotions that made his heart run at 500 miles an hour. He felt shivers run down his spine every time he heard his name on her lips. He wanted to be hers.
"Wha- um, what were you up to before you came down?" Kyle asked, taking a few steps away from the car. His brain had pivoted words last minute, switching to something that scared his mind less.
Her excitement deflated a little, but she moved to lean against his car and searched where the moon hung in the sky before answering.
"Not much, I was trying to do homework" she answered.
"Trying? were you too distracted by thoughts of me to focus..." he asked teasingly. If only he knew, Sanya thought.
"What - pf, no" she answered, failing to sound convincing purposefully. Kyle sauntered over and leaned over Sanya. He placed a hand right next to her head for balance.
"Um, really" Kyle said. His voice had dropped an octave, reverberating in his chest. Sanya's eyes were drawn to his lips before coming back to his darkened eyes. The silent desire buzzing between their bodies.
"Can I kiss you?" he asked, voicing the want since he had smelled her strawberry flavored breath.
"Only if you never stop" she replied, leaning in.
