Walking up to Kevin’s front door, you swallowed your nerves and knocked. After about 30 seconds, the door opened, and there he stood. He looked so beautiful. The way his black hair fell over his dark brown eyes always left you speechless. It took everything in you to not just throw yourself into his arms right then and there, but you were here for a reason. A very important reason.
You were staring behind him, trying to figure out how you should tell him. “Earth to Y/N,” Kevin said as he waved his hand in front of your face. You blinked rapidly a few times to clear your vision and then turned to him. “Why are you here? You haven’t even spoken to me in months,” Kevin said, crossing his arms. “I, I um,” you began as you nervously wiped your palms on your pant legs. Something you only did when you were anxious. Kevin’s face morphed from annoyance to concern. “Are you okay,” he asked? You slowly lifted your eyes until they locked with his. You shook your head just as tears started falling down your face. “Come inside,” Kevin said as he extended a hand to you. You took it and allowed him to pull you through the door.
He led you into the kitchen, and you sat down on one of the bar stools that lined his kitchen island. Kevin handed you a glass of water and sat down next to you. “What’s going on,” Kevin asked? You were about to answer when you noticed the box of metal bike locks and his bow and arrow sitting on the floor next to his backpack. You turned back to him with wide eyes. “You’re really going to go through with this,” you asked? Kevin looked up at you. “Yeah I am. Don’t go to school today. Just go back home and tell your dad you’re sick or something,” Kevin said. “Kevin… please don’t do this. I love you,” you said as you reached for his hand. Kevin pulled his hand away and scoffed. “Yeah right. As if you could still love me after realizing all the rumors at school were true. I’m a monster Y/N. I always have been, I always will be. My mom knows it, and now you know it. So give me one good reason why I shouldn’t do this,” Kevin said. “Because I don’t want our child to grow up without his father,” you said, staring into Kevin’s eyes. “Our.. our what,” Kevin stuttered. You reached into your purse and pulled out the pregnancy tests, and set them on the counter. “Our baby,” you said. Kevin grabbed the tests and looked at them. He set them down and looked at you with tears in his eyes. “OMG, you’re pregnant with my baby,” Kevin said as he got up and began pacing around the kitchen. “Yeah, well, you didn’t ask about birth control before you came in me. I would have gotten a Plan B, but I had been so distracted after finding your notebook,” you said, looking down at your still flat stomach.
“Well, have you thought about what you want to do,” Kevin asked? “Not until I know how far along I am,” you said. “Have you made any appointments yet,” Kevin asked? “I only found out last night, and then I came directly here when I woke up,” you said. “Well, let me know when the appointment is so I can come with you,” Kevin said. That surprised you. You were sure that Kevin was going to tell you to leave the moment you told him you were pregnant. “You want to come with me,” you asked, turning to face Kevin? Kevin raised an eyebrow at you. “Why wouldn’t I want to come,“ he asked? “I just assumed you wouldn’t want to,” you said as tears fell down your face. Kevin furrowed his brow at you. “Why would you think that,” he asked? “Because we’re still in high school. We’ve barely gotten to live our own lives, and now we have to take care of another human being? It didn’t seem fair to you,” you said as you began biting your thumb nail. “Yeah well it takes two to tango, and I should have realized you weren’t on birth control because you were a virgin,” Kevin said as he sat back down on the back stool next to you.
You start crying, and Kevin puts his arm around you. “Hey, why don’t we stay here today? We can cuddle and order food, maybe watch a movie,” Kevin suggested. You nodded your head, and Kevin got up. He offered you his hand. You took it, and the two of you walked up the steps to his bedroom.
“Kevin,” you asked as you sat down on the end of his bed? “Yes, sweetheart,” Kevin said, turning towards you? “What did you mean when you said you didn’t want to hurt me anymore,” you asked, looking him in the eyes. Kevin sighed. “Back when you first started trying to ask me out, I wasn’t interested. It was when I had first started planning to shoot up our school, and I thought you were bringing too much attention. I kept trying to let you down easy, but you just kept coming back. When I asked you out on that date, I had planned to hurt you just enough to scare you away, but when I picked you up… you looked so beautiful. I realized that I had never had anyone care enough to actually try to get to know me. The way you actually cared what I had to say, it was something I wasn’t used to. I think I started loving you that night, I just didn’t know that’s what those feelings meant. Hell, I didn’t think I was capable of feeling those things,” Kevin said, as he gently pulled your chin up until your eyes locked on his. You stared into his dark brown eyes and found nothing but love and adoration. “I love you, Y/N! I promise that I will never do anything to hurt you or this baby. So if you decide to keep it, I’ll be here,” Kevin said. “I love you too, Kevin,” you responded.
