Tuesday came faster than you expected. You were in your bedroom getting dressed when your father yelled. “Y/N, Kevin’s here.” Luckily, your father had been none the wiser to the rift that had been between you and Kevin since he worked so much. ‘I’ll be right down,” you yelled back. After ensuring you had your insurance card and ID, you headed downstairs. “I’m only working a morning shift today, so I figured we could have a movie night tonight. Kevin can come if he wants to,” your dad said as he kissed your forehead and headed out the door.

“You ready to go,” Kevin asked with a smile. You nodded, and the two of you walked to Kevin’s truck. He helped you in and then climbed in himself. “So, what did you tell your dad we're doing today,” Kevin asked. “I told him it was woman related, and he stopped asking questions immediately,” you replied with a chuckle.

As Kevin pulled into the parking lot, you silently prayed you wouldn’t see anyone you knew. Kevin helped you out of his truck, and the two of you walked in holding hands. You approached the front desk, and a middle-aged woman with wire rimmed glasses looked up and smiled at you. “May I help you,” she asked? You returned her smile and nodded. “I have an appointment at 10,” you said. The woman tapped away on her keyboard and then handed you a clipboard and pen. “Fill these out. When you’ve finished, Dr. Polanski will come and get you.” You took the clipboard, and you and Kevin walked to the waiting area. You filled out all the essential information and took it back to the receptionist. The receptionist took the clipboard from you, and a nurse directed you and Kevin to a small hospital room. “Dr. Polanski will be with you soon,” he said with a smile before closing the door.

You sat stiffly on the hard hospital bed and nervously wiped your hands on your jean clad thighs. Kevin reached over and squeezed your hand reassuringly. You smiled at him, grateful that he was there with you. A knock sound at the door, and you sat up straight. “Hi, Y/N, I’m Dr. Polanski. It says here that you’re here for your first ultrasound,” Dr. Polanski said, looking at his clipboard. “Yes, we need to know how far along I am,” you said. “How long ago did you find out you were pregnant,” Dr. Polanski asked. “Three days ago,” you said with a smile. “Well, first things first. I’m going to have you take one of our pregnancy tests, just to be sure. If you take a left, the bathroom should be the third door on the right. There will be collection cups and sanitary wipes in the cupboard behind the toilet. Wipe down your entire area, pee a little into the toilet, and then you can collect your sample. Once you’ve finished, just place it into the little metal door in the wall,” he said, smiling back at you. You nodded your head and headed to the bathroom. After you finished, you headed back to the exam room. “All finished,” Dr. Polanski asked with a smile. You gave him a half smile in return.

Dr. Polanski left the room to get your results from the lab. “How are you feeling,” Kevin asked. “Nervous, I just want to leave,” you said. “I know, baby, but we’re almost done,” he said, kissing your forehead. “Alright, you’re definitely pregnant,” Dr. Polanski said, coming back into the room. “Let’s get this ultrasound done and see how far along you are,” Dr. Polanski said. You laid back on the hospital bed and lifted up your shirt. “Alright, this is going to be cold,” Dr. Polanski said as he squeezed the ultrasound goo onto your stomach. You winced at the coldness, and Kevin grabbed your hand.

Using his wand, Dr. Polanski began moving around your stomach. “Ah, there it is,” he said as he zoomed in on a tiny little blip. Your heart sped up the moment you saw it. You felt Kevin’s hand tighten around yours. You squeezed back. “That’s our baby,” Kevin said as he looked down at you with tears in his eyes. “It looks like you’re around 11 or 12 weeks. Everything looks healthy,” Dr. Polanski said. “What’s my estimated due date,” you asked, wanting to know if hiding your pregnancy until after graduation was going to be possible. “On or around June 4th,” Dr. Polanski answered. “That’s 4 days after graduation,” you said. “Keep in mind that this is just an estimate, and you could go into labor before, or you could last beyond that day. “Would you like a printout of the ultrasound,” Dr. Polanski asked, but you were lost in thought, wondering what people at school were going to say. They already hated Kevin, and you knew that this was just more ammunition for them to use against him. Plus, the added prospect of going into labor at your graduation was almost too much to think about. “Yes, we would,” Kevin said. Dr. Polanski handed the printouts to Kevin. Before wiping the goo off your stomach. “You guys are free to go,” he said, smiling.

You and Kevin walked out of the clinic hand in hand. You stared at the ultrasound picture in your other hand. “We’re going to be parents,” you said as a tear fell down your cheek. “Yes, we are,” Kevin said with a smile. “I love you, Kevin,” you said. “I love you too, Y/N,” Kevin said as he leaned down to kiss you.
