Queen Snowstorm watched proudly as her youngest daughter, Silverwing bounced around the castle, playing with ice shards and kicking up snow. Silverwing's namesake- her shining silvery wings- gleamed in the sunlight as she danced around. Snowstorm was obsessed with her, always watching her progress and making sure she was safe, so much so that she barely had time to spend with her other dragonets. Blizzard, her eldest daughter, walked over to her mother anxiously. "Mom, Alabaster's not been feeling well lately." Blizzard said worriedly, her tail lashing behind her. Snowstorm simply rolled her eyes at Blizzard. "He'll be fine. He's probably just overreacting." Snowstorm scoffed as she continued to look after Silverwing, her eyes shining with love and admiration for her little dragonet. Blizzard huffed and turned away, dragging herself through the hallways until she reached Alabaster's room.
Blizzard peeked her head into his room. Alabaster laid in the middle of the floor like a polar bear rug, panting heavily as he struggled to breathe, constantly coughing. Blizzard sat next to her brother cautiously, careful not to get in the way of his coughs and wheezes. She let out a sigh before speaking. "Mom's so obsessed with 'Her precious little Silverwing' that she can't even take her other dragonet to a medical center..." Blizzard hissed spitefully as she crushed an ice shard in her talons. "I know Dad's death broke her too, but...it's just not fair." Blizzard frowned as Alabaster nodded weakly before letting out another horrible cough. Blizzard looked towards him, her mind suddenly flashing with a new idea. "You know what? If Mom won't take you, then I will." Blizzard smirked, getting up. "We just have to sneak past her."
Blizzard carefully hauled her brother onto her back as she began to pad quietly through the hallways, her eyes scanning for anyone that might tell on them to Mom. She stayed low, sneaking around the palace and sneaking past dragon guards until she finally found a balcony she could escape from. Blizzard grinned and spread her wings, preparing to make a victorious leap into the air when-
"BLIZZARD!" A powerful voice shrieked. Blizzard and Alabaster almost snapped their necks as they turned around to face their mother, who was standing at the doors to the balcony furiously. "Where do you think you're going?" Snowstorm hissed as Blizzard's eyes widened. She knew Mom hated it when other dragons went against her demands. "Mom! It's Alabaster, he needs medical attention, now!" Blizzard cried as Alabaster nodded weakly. Snowstorm growled, but obliged. "Okay, dragonets. This better not be some prank or something." Snowstorm hissed as she flew off with the two of them.
They arrived at a hospital, landing outside and entering the large building. They were greeted warmly by a surprised nurse, and they took Alabaster to be inspected. Blizzard and Snowstorm sat in the waiting room impatiently. "Mom, I can't believe that you almost let Alabaster die." Blizzard hissed. "If we didn't take him here, that's very well what could have happened." Snowstorm grunted and turned away from her daughter as Blizzard growled.
Soon after, another nurse stepped out of the room. "It looks like he caught Dragtheria, a disease that slowly starts to block his airway. Thankfully, we have a cure for it, though we might need to keep him with us for a few days." The nurse said reassuringly as Blizzard let out a sigh of relief. The two of them thanked the nurses and doctors earnestly before flying off back to the palace again. "Mom, you really need to be less irresponsible instead of just focusing all your attention on Silverwing. It needs to be equal." Blizzard growled as they flew back, a little irritated. "You have no right to judge me, young lady!" Snowstorm snarled right back at her, making Blizzard cower. "Ugh. Whatever." Blizzard scoffed, a little flame of hate beginning to burn in her heart.
