There he was. Caelan Chemjong. The student bearing a flawless appearance, with a clear complexion complimented by his black shoulder-length hair. It was as if his figure alone was alluring. I have to admit, he has always been rather attractive. He draws everyone's attention the moment he enters the next classroom, like a trap waiting for a mouse to step in.It's annoying really. He just steps in and suddenly he sucks all the attention like a magnet, whereas I had to work hard to top the leaderboard scores and all I earned was a reputation for being a "nerd". In a school where you got accepted into with a scholarship and everyone else around you paid to learn here, you start to grow hope that you'll be able to bring honour to your family. But no. Instead, the higher class families of my classmates rather take pity on my parents. Not even annoying at this point, but frustrating. My parents can show me their proud smiles whenever I achieve another accomplishment but those smiles will never wipe away the images printed in my head the day I saw their saddened faces as other families humiliated them. Ever since that day, me and my brother swore to each other that we would protect our parents no matter what. Our goal was to ensure our parents would never lay their wrinkled fingers on a dish or make dumplings at 1 am in the morning.
And I definitely will not let Caelan Chemjong interfere our promise.
