"Your saying I'm a... Herrscher?" I asked the doctor for what seemed to be the thousandth time.
"Mhm~" Doctor Jay hummed in affirmation, all while sweeping up the dust from the device.
"Okay... so what would my authority be? I think all herrschers have a specialty, right?"
"Hmm..." Doctor Jay paused her sweeping "Actually, there are obscure records of a... previous era herrscher with abilities eclipsing all others, with the exclusion of finality."
"And you think I'm that herrscher?" I asked doubtfully.
"Mhm."
"What proves it?"
"The fact that you just disintegrated my device. That is something the records mentioned." Doctor Jay put away the broom, pulling some ancient papers out of a drawer. "Take a look."
I took the papers from her hands, scanning the text quickly. Oddly enough, though the text looked like another language, i was able to read it.
There was one section that seemed to be undamaged, so I read that.
"The guardian protected everyone, keeping the corruption at bay. Once all of Honkai's envoys had been destroyed, the guardian vanished, disappearing into the mist surrounding our village."
"We never learned the true identity of the girl who guarded us from the outside world all those years, but I know one thing- she meant us no harm, and even used her own life force to protect us."
"...The years passed, and the village remains much the same. Sometimes i wander up to the boundary keeping us from the world outside, and stare at the mist in silence..."
"....the barrier is thinning. The world outside is encroaching on our village..."
"People from the outside came to the village today..."
"the world has reverted back to it's original state."
The text had faded, turning the rest of the passage into smudges of ink.
"Guardian? You think that guardian was a herrscher?"
Doctor Jay looked at me, confused.
"What Guardian? I'm talking about what appears in the painting. The figure of the girl splitting apart the oncoming honkai tide."
"So, you haven't read the passage?"
"The passage is in previous era script. Nobody alive can read that, at least that i know of."
It was my turn to be confused. "But i just read it. It talked about a guardian, and a barrier of mist, and the way that guardian saved a village. Look, there's even this little mark of two crescent moons interlocking. I think that's the villages little icon."
the doctor just stared at me in silence, it was several minutes before she spoke.
"You... can read that? It's entirely different from regular previous era script, and looks to be even older..."
She took a deep breath. "If thats what it says, i want you to go with Fu Hua and Bronya to investigate. I'll talk to Theresa as well."
Bronya opened the door "I'm not going anywhere with that Herrscher. Fu Hua is fine, but not Senti."
I sighed.
Why do they hate each other so much?!
