Six months ago:
The Almighty smiled as she saw Beelzebub and Gabriel's signal disappearing from the Earth's atmosphere. Finally this whole Armageddon thing can end and everyone gets their happy ending what they deserved. She switched of the monitor to Earth and comfortably lean back in her chair when a call from Metatron pops up out of the nowhere.
"A call? Right now?! What can be so important" the Almighty sighs as She answers the call. "What happened? Is it the Armageddon? Did the demons not go back to Hell" She worriedly asked.
"No Almighty. Nothing of that sort of thing. I just found someone who can replace Gabriel as the supreme archangel"
God released a relieved sigh. Yes She already thought about the angel who should replace the missing archangel but Muriel isn't ready to take the post yet. She needs a proper training before that but looks like Metatron isn't the patient type.
"Okay make time in my schedule to talk with our new Archangel Muriel"
"You surely mean Archangel Aziraphale my Grace because he said yes to our offer. Muriel wanted to run the bookshop on Earth" Metatron shrugged and the smile froze into Her face.This. Isn't. Supposed. To. Happen! Crowley and Aziraphale should have remained on their own side according to the Ineffable plan. Someone must have interfered.
"Metatron did you treatened Aziraphale to accept the post?" She asked.
"Not at all Almighty. I merely passed by the bookshop to check how they handled the demons attacking. When Aziraphale recognised me and basically begged to come back to Heaven" God's first angel said but something felt off for the Almighty."Someone changed the fate of two individuals who meant to be together since the beginning! How dare...!" God thought feeling Her anger grow then a brilliant idea came into Her mind "Maybe this conspiracy will come in handy" She smiled.
All She needs is to make a test. A test of true feelings and intentions... just like She did with Job and his family. The difficult part is to find someone to act instead of Her. Someone who knows the Earth well but didn't have time to become arrogant here in Heaven. Someone who is not afraid to ask questions. Someone who is also on the fine line between good and evil just like Crowley and Aziraphale were. But who?For God's luck the question fastly answered itself in the form of one of the youngest angels in Heaven. A young Starmaker, the first one created after the Great Rebellion who made a relatively small mistake but somehow damaged the entire structure of the Universe. All the pressure, all the blames and Atlas is the only one who can fix the damage what he caused.
___________________________________________It started as perfectly as all day in Heaven. Atlas woke up. Completed his morning exercise then headed to the Meeting where God finally announces the new Supreme Archangel of Heaven. To be honest he had his opinion about archangels which wasn't very positive but for some reason he was hopeful.
"Maybe this new archangel can make a difference. Maybe they erase the rules between the ranks. Maybe someone will finally answer my questions" he thought flying down some floors to reach the top of the highest building. He landed softly on the fire escape's balcony stopping to admire the view from this high.
"Despite being two pair of wings you are quite late from the Meeting" someone scolded Atlas from behind but the boy just smiled not turning his head.
"Has it started?"
"No but that doesn't change the fact that you are late!" the grumpy female voice continued.
"Laila relax. What's to worst that can happen? The Almighty makes us Fallens?" Atlas laughed quietly finally turning to the other angel's direction.
The female angel had dark brown almost black hair and clear green eyes which now darkened as she looked at Atlas.
"Don't even joke with that Starmaker" Laila said with a serious voice but she started smiling mid sentence.
"Starmaker? Uu someone is very formal today!" the boy laughed grining like an idiot as he miracled his wings away.
