As the sun rose on the morning of my move-in day at St. Clares, a mix of nerves and excitement filled the air. I woke up early, eager to start this new chapter of my life. My parents were already bustling around, helping me get ready for the big day ahead.
After a quick shower, I got dressed in comfortable jeans and a cozy sweater. The typical British weather could be unpredictable, so I wanted to be prepared for anything. As I looked in the mirror, I felt a surge of confidence and determination. Today marked the beginning of an exciting adventure.
We gathered in the kitchen for breakfast, and my mom had prepared a traditional British spread of bacon, eggs, sausages, baked beans, and toast. The aroma filled the room, and we sat down to enjoy the hearty meal together.
"This is delicious, Mom. Thank you," I said, savoring the taste of home-cooked comfort.
"You're welcome, sweetheart. We want to make sure you're well-fed and ready for the day," she replied, her eyes filled with pride.
After breakfast, we began loading my suitcases into the car. It was time to say goodbye to our flat and head to Oxford, where my college awaited. The car journey was filled with chatter and excitement, but there was also a tinge of sadness knowing that my parents would soon be leaving.
As we arrived at St. Clares, the campus loomed before us, impressive and full of possibilities. We unloaded the suitcases and made our way to the dorms, where fellow new boarding students were also arriving with their families.
With the help of some friendly campus assistants, we carried my belongings up to my assigned room. The dorm was cozy and had a beautiful view of the campus. It was a mix of nerves and anticipation as my parents helped me set up my space, making it feel like home."We'll miss you, Amelie," my dad said, giving me a tight hug."We're so proud of you, my dear. This is an exciting journey, and we know you'll do amazing things here," my mom added, her eyes shining with emotion.
Tears welled up in my eyes, but I held them back, not wanting to cry just yet. Instead, I smiled and hugged them both tightly, feeling the warmth of their love and support.
"I'll miss you both too, but I promise to keep you updated on all the adventures I'll have here," I said, my voice filled with determination. After heartfelt goodbyes, my parents left, and I took a deep breath, feeling a mix of emotions settle within me. I was now officially a boarding student at St. Clares, and it was time to embrace the day's activities.
I joined the group of new students in the common area, where we were welcomed by some enthusiastic upperclassmen. They led us on a tour of the campus, showing us the cafeteria, library, and various classrooms.
As we explored the dorms, I got to meet my roommate, Lily, who was equally excited about starting this new journey. We instantly clicked, and I knew we were going to make a great team.Later in the evening, we all gathered for a "welcome party," where we mingled, played games, and shared stories about our backgrounds and aspirations. It was a relaxed and fun atmosphere, and I felt a sense of camaraderie with my fellow students.
