HARLYM SAT WITH her legs crossed on her couch, rubbing Rocco's head as she listened to her mom rant through the phone.
"And then you had the nerve to mention a private conversation 'bout her baby? Harlym, you need ta' apologize to your sister." Taylin was genuinely upset, she couldn't figure out why her daughters couldn't get along.
Harlym sighed, "I'm not going to. She can apologize to me for bringing up my personal relationships then I'll think 'bout it."
Taylin rested her hand on her table, "It wasn't a question, Harlym. I'm telling you. You need to apologize to your sister, you two don't have to get along but you damn sure will respect one another."
Harlym was quiet for a moment, "Okay, momma." She said, mostly to stop her from ranting. She still had no intentions of apologizing to Jaslyn. "Enjoy the rest of your lunch break. I'll call you later."
Once her mom was off the phone, Harlym stood up and went to her home gym where Jalen was. He had finished working out a while ago, he was just laying on the floor now, listening to J. Cole through the speakers that were mounted on the wall.
"What did ma dukes say?" He asked as she walked in, he didn't even bother sitting up to look at her.
"Nothin' important." She went and sat down next to him, "Do you think I'm mean?"
Jalen nodded, "1000%." He muttered. "I already told you how I felt 'bout it though."
Harlym licked her lips, "I really don't think I am. People just love provoking me."
"Nah, Harlym." He chuckled, "You're the provoker. You're the problem." He said dryly, not sugarcoating it.
She looked over at him, "So you thought it was okay for her to call me a homewrecker?"
"Of course not but you walked into her birthday dinner an hour late and wanted to talk 'bout your so called enemies before even asking her about her day." Jalen sat up, "Imagine how she feels."
"Since you care about her feelings so much how 'bout you go date her instead." Harlym was about to stand up but Jalen grabbed her ankle so she couldn't move.
"If I wanted her, I would've went that way but I want you. That's why I'm tryna get you to see that being a bitch is only going to leave you without friends." He explained. "And Brielle doesn't count as a real friend, she's just as mean and messy as you. You need friends that hold you accountable."
Harlym crossed her arms, "Is that all?"
"Fix yo' attitude." He mumbled, "You ain't gon' be mean to me."
"You makin' me mad by giving me your opinion, ian ask for that." She stood still.
"You just mad ion agree wit' some of the things you be doin'." He kept his grip on her ankle for a moment longer before letting her go, once she was free she still didn't walk away.
