Why did it happen?

It was day one in my hospital bed all over again. I had a couple of stitches in my arm and leg. I couldn’t move my legs, but Lily didn’t hit anything important. I was lucky to even be alive. Adam came to take my statement about what had happened. I told him everything and he said when I get better, I could join the task force only if I wanted to. I immediately replied, "Of course, I want to join the task force, but I need some time.” Adam said take all the time you need. The job is waiting for you.

Day two went by and I still couldn’t get up from the bed. I was just counting the days until I could go back home. That’s when Damon showed up, he laughed how do you always get in these situations. He apologized for leaving abruptly the last time he was here and this time he is here to help no matter what. I told him don’t put your life on hold just for me and you should get back because I can’t take it anymore you just show up when I'm in trouble. I can’t do that to you anymore, you don’t owe me anything.

I'm sorry but I would like you to leave now. Damon said no I know you're just angry at me for not helping you. But this time I'm here to stay and I'm not leaving until you get better as he reached for my hand. I told him this doesn’t mean we are getting back together. Damon replied I know as he scoffed. The doctor entered the room and read my chart and she told me I could leave in a couple of days, but they wanted to keep me for a while for observation.

Damon helped me get up from the bed and gave me my medicine. I swallowed them and it was time for some physical therapy. Damon told me to get in the wheelchair and that he would take me there. The physician told me that if I wanted to get better it would take time and to not give up. At first, she told me I'm starting with hand therapy and to regulate movement wouldn’t cause any pain. She gave me a rubber ball and told me to squeeze it 10 times so she could know how bad my situation is. It was a bit tough for me, but I did it without my arm hurting. She timed me, and I didn’t reach the time goal. Okay, that is enough for your arm today we will move to your legs the physician said. She asked me if I could get up, I told her I could try as I tried to get up with Damon’s help, and she told me to slowly move to the given place that had support on both sides so I could walk without falling. I successfully walked the whole thing and reached the end

Damon caught me and helped me to get on a chair. The PT said your legs are better than I had hoped and that is a good thing. Meet you tomorrow, she said. Damon took me to my room and said that he was leaving for the day and he would come back tomorrow. I went to the PT and started therapy every time I could. I just wanted to get out and be free. Damon helped me through everything. It was hard for me for a while, but I kept going with Damon by my side. The doctor said I was good to go and that I had a speedy recovery, but I have to take things a bit slow.

I at last left the hospital and got home. As I was going through my email, which was a lot by the way, I saw a mail sent by Adam asking if I was okay and up for the job. I answered him that I had just got back home and to inform me of further details about what the job was going to be. I got tired and I fell asleep when I woke up Damon said get up, we are going out for dinner. I asked him don’t you have a flight to get back home. He said the flights got delayed due to the weather, and that’s when I noticed it was snowing out. I said OK let me get my coat we will head out. It was a magical night out. We had dinner at a small Italian restaurant and just walked for the rest of the night. We talked and watched the sunrise. We had the perfect night out without any bloodshed and violence. Unfortunately, it came to an end when morning came, and Damon had to leave. We said our goodbyes, it was painful, but it had to happen for us to move on. I got a text from Adam saying to meet him for coffee the next day. I got prepared for whatever the situation might be and got ready and headed out. I found Adam in the café, and he said it is good to see you up and walking. I smiled and directly got to the point and asked him what type of job I would be doing. He asked what do you prefer I said I could be an undercover agent. He laughed and said I was just kidding you can't pick right now but after your training, your trainer and the agents will decide based on your skill. I said fine when do I start my training, Adam said if you like we could go right now. He drove for hours, and we finally got to the base camp and told me this is it; this is the place you are going to train for the next couple of months. He told me to fill out some forms and took me to the Grand Marshall and introduced me as the person who took down Lily. The Grand Marshall was impressed and shook my hand. He said you seem driven to do great things I hope that you can be a part of our community. I was so proud of myself for coming this far. 

Adam said that things were already working my way. He said to submit the forms and say that I was recruited by Jensen, and they will give me my schedule sheet. I asked the person collecting the forms where we are allowed to stay. She said that we are meant to stay in the dorms near the camp so it's safe for training. The schedule was crazy packed and very informative. I was genuinely happy to be a part of something good.

I went the next day with all my things packed and they set me up with a room I had two roommates they already got here a week back, so I asked them where to put my things. They said everyone gets their separate room and pointed to mine. I went to my room and unpacked and got out to the living room. They asked if I wanted to go out for lunch. I agreed, and we went to the nearest diner and ordered food.

Both of them introduced themselves as Ashley and Gina. Ashley is tall and has luscious red hair she was giving don’t mess with me vibe and Gina is kind and spiritual. I asked why Gina and Ashley joined the force Gina said that her mother was killed, and no one found her killer and she was driven by it her whole life. Ashley was not ready to answer the question, so I didn’t pressure her. Gina asked me why I decided to join the force. I told her my reasons and she was blown off by the tragedies. Ashley felt sorry for me, but she didn’t express it. We finished our meal and went back to camp.

On the way Ashley wanted to stop and say hi to her boyfriend. It was to my surprise Adam. Adam said, "I see you two have already met.” Ashley asked how do you two know each other. He said that I was the one who helped him with the last case he was working on. Ashley got a bit jealous and didn’t talk to me for the rest of the ride. I explained that she doesn’t have anything to worry about and she could tell me if something was bothering her. She sighed and said that it was not about me, but she was afraid of Adam being alone out there in the field and how she wished to help him through, and she got jealous cause I was that person for him.

I was glad that I had good relationships with my roommates this time. It got dark so we went to our rooms and got some sleep because we had to wake up early in the morning for training.
