The next two weeks passed in the same way as the previous ones, the only difference being that in the evenings, when the two girls got together, they no longer spent their time reading the werewolf manual, but they trained in their "new way". "
But Wednesday had forbidden Enid to appear close in public so that sometimes Enid received sermones from Wednesday for being blushed in front of the class when they had made eye contact during lessons.
However, Enid loved their secret pact and now she was always so distracted because of the Addams.
Wednesday, even if she would have never admitted it, even at Thing's insistence, she was less focused. She noticed it mainly because during one of the swordplay lessons she almost got beaten by an inexperienced first year girl. A ridiculous thing. She cursed Enid several times, because she distracted her even without her physical presence.
Wednesday wasn't sure whether to call what she was doing with Enid "study," but she didn't care. Every night, she kicked Thing out of their room and joined her she-wolf.
There are some incidents that are worth mentioning, however, as the Halloween full moon countdown continued on, bringing with it more question marks than answers.
*********
Wednesday hated playing her violoncello in front of the others, even if the last sonata in public, in the square of Jericho she had made it spectacular.
Only Thing could watch, but on those nights before their "practices," Wednesday played for Enid, who watched her musician with dreamy eyes, sitting on the balcony wall of their room, looking at the moon, never full.
Everyone at Nevermore who was used to listening to Wednesday's tunes at night had noticed that the melody sounded softer, almost peaceful at times.
Now, at night, the dismal violoncello cradled the students of Nevermore and her wolf.
One night, while she was engrossed in the music, Enid turned her head to Wednesday.
-Do you think that... What would your parents think about what we do?- She asked Wednesday, interrupting her serenade to the moon.
-It wouldn't be their business. - Wednesday answered quickly 'cause she couldn't stand it when her mother meddled in her private affairs.
-I know but... What would your mother say? -
-She'd probably say "you're finally growing up, my sad cloud" or something like that.- She did a provocative imitation of her mother.
Enid laughed, then suddenly, she was thoughtful again.
-My mother would mark me for life as a hermit wolf, probably. - The blonde reflected with a trembling voice.
-Why do you let your mother have all this influence on you? - Wednesday asked.
-Well, it's my family. Even your mother has an influence on you.-
-This is not true. - Addams hurried to reply.
-You always voluntarily do the opposite of what she wants from you.- Enid retorted, and Wednesday rolled her eyes.
Enid had a point, but Wednesday would have never admitted it.
Wednesday's attention was diverted from Thing, which knocked on the violoncello, risking being kicked away by the girl.
-What do you want? -
Thing pointed to Enid, who was saddened and he asked to play her violoncello.
Wednesday hated when Thing insisted, but she let herself be persuaded, since she understood what he wanted to do, not before rolling her eyes once more.
