The sun had begun to set and the day was coming to an end, night was beginning to draw in. Night was hunting time for Grilfer, he would prowl, appearing in the rooms of unsuspecting people, good or bad, he did not care. All that mattered to him was their soul, it was their soul he wanted for his father, no one was safe.

The moon was full, laying a blanket of soft light across the city and through the windows of all humanity below. The streets and houses were decorated with pumpkins and skeletons to celebrate Halloween tomorrow.

Laying asleep in his bed a young man was dreaming deeply and letting out a low-level snore, filling the room. The lights in his room began to flicker. On, off, on, off until they remained off. An intense light and heat filled the room as Grilfer's portal appeared. His unsuspecting victim was none the wiser as to the fate that he was about to receive. Grilfer made his way over to the sleeping man and placed his hands above his head, shaping the triangle and beginning his incantations.

Grilfer continued his spell, chanting line after line to begin lifting the soul from his victim. Small arcs started to form between the fingertips of Grilfer and the forehead of the young man. Suddenly a burst of light lit the room, blinding Grilfer temporarily. Dazed and confused as to what was happening the young man had hold of Grilfer's wrists and had begun to get out of the bed. Grilfer tried to fight the young man off, Grilfer was extremely strong, however this young man appeared to be a good match.

The young man bent Grilfer's wrists putting pressure on the joints. Grilfer had begun to tire of the young man's actions and drove his head directly into the bridge of the young man's nose, breaking it on impact, splitting the skin between his eyes and dazing him.

The young man lost his grip and his hands dropped from the wrists he once held tightly. Grilfer grabbed the man by the shoulders, piercing each shoulder with his talon fingers, the young man let out a cry of pain. Grilfer threw the young man at the wall, he fell to the ground surrounded by bits of broken plaster board and dust. Grilfer glided over towards the man on the floor, Grilfer's movements were like that of a snake, rather than a man. He approached the man on the floor who was now making his way back up to his feet.

The clock on the side table ticked over to midnight, a new day, it was now All Hallows Eve.

The man now back on his feet, looked at Grilfer as he approached. Grilfer went to grab the man by the throat but was met by the hands of the young man. Holding onto the wrists of the creature once more, the young man began to force one of Grilfer's wrists towards the ground. The pressure was building in the joints of the creature again, he continued to apply more and more pressure. With a loud snap and crack the bony wrist of the creature broke.

Grilfer let out a loud scream. It was the first feeling of pain he had felt since the day he had hacked the skin from his bones. The young man had snapped the hand straight off, it dropped to the ground. The hand began to dissolve into dust and lay in a pile.

Grilfer now enraged further, swung his other hand from one side to the other, slashing the face of the young man, leaving two big gauges across his face and slicing straight through his right eye. The young man dropped to the ground in agony, blood squirting out of his socket, covering the floor and walls around him. He began to crawl back towards the bed he once lay in.

Grilfer flipped him back over and grabbed the young man by the neck, lifting him up off of the ground and looking directly into the one good eye he had left, showing the burning inferno that sat in the sockets where Grilfer's eyes once sat. The young man, with blood covering his face, spat into Grilfer's face covering him in his blood.

Grilfer began to squeeze tighter on the neck of the young man, his blood beginning to cease pumping to his head and the air around him began to stop entering his lungs. He was fading, with the last piece of energy he could muster, he pulled a knife from his waistband. The knife that had previously been kept under his bed and had collected when he crawled over. With one swift movement, the blade cut straight through the arm of the hand holding the young man up above the ground.

The young man fell to the ground, dropping the knife. The severed arm of Grilfer lay on the ground before disintegrating just like his hand. The young man scurried towards the knife and grabbed it. He looked up, Grilfer had summoned his portal and was getting away.

The young man turned the knife around, holding it by the blade, he threw it in the direction of Grilfer and his portal. As the knife soared, the portal closed and Grilfer was gone.

This young man had fought off the creature of death, there was a little more to this man than meets the eye. He was the son of the Solveig. She had been planning this moment for so long. There hadn't been an All Hallows Eve with a full moon in such a long time, and it had to be that day.

A bright light filled the room in which the young man sat and when the bright light was gone, so was he.

The spy all those years ago had overheard that the Gods were vulnerable when a full moon clashed with the night of All Hallows Eve. The God of Light knew that this was the only way that she could destroy the upper hand of her enemy, but also to protect humanity.
