Where is the city you promised me?" the woman said to the mirror.
"Soon, my lady. A part of the city is already ours. The high-ranking officials follow my orders, and the common people fear the night and death itself. Every frightened soul is already prepared to serve you," I replied, maintaining a confident tone without hesitation. A single wrong word, and I could find myself without a head.
"Remember, demon," she raised her voice. "If you let too much time pass, the sentinel of light will grow stronger, and you will lose. Do whatever you must, but do not return to me empty-handed—or you will beg for death."
Those were her last words before vanishing.
My lady does not like to wait, but I am certain of what I am doing. The witch does not scare me; I have already caused her death once, and so it shall be again.
However, the thought of the tortures my lady could inflict—years of agony, if not more—sends shivers down my spine. I would much rather be killed by the light witch than by Viktorya.
Being damned and wandering this earth for centuries is already a curse. My past failure did not help me rise in rank; instead, I have endured the worst humiliations and punishments from my superiors, even though I am older than them. Damn witch!
I have been waiting for hours for that useless alien to return! I captured and enslaved him a few years ago, and I must admit, they were right—having an alien who knows how to hunt, kill, and obey orders is not bad at all. Corrupting his spirit, turning him from a noble warrior into a ruthless, insatiable creature, was easy. But ever since the red-haired witch and her alien lover appeared, everything has slowed down.
"So, brother, how did it go with our lady? Is she furious? Or did you manage to win her forgiveness by proving what a loyal dog you are?" My sister’s voice was mocking, her lips curling into a smirk.
I can’t stand her anymore.
"Don’t you have anything better to do, sister?" I shot back, reclining in my chair, my computer screen still glowing in the dim light. With a sigh, I added, "Instead of pestering me, why don’t you try capturing Reya and her alien? If you fail, it will be your turn to be our mistress’s slave." I smirked, locking eyes with her. She fears failure as much as I do, though she would never admit it. She prefers to dirty other people’s hands. What a coward.
"First of all, conquering the city and having an endless supply of human flesh was your idea. And secondly," she made herself comfortable on my couch, "you’re the one who has to kill that girl again. It shouldn’t be difficult; you’ve done it once before. But this time, make sure her heart stops beating completely, so that our mistress can play with her soul. That way, she will be pleased, and you will be forgiven for your delays and disobedience," she laughed.
"Perhaps you're right. Maybe this time, I’ll bring her back alive so we can all have our fun, don’t you think?" I hated to admit it, but my sister had a point. "But first, I need to know where the fuck that idiot alien disappeared to!" I snapped, irritation creeping into my voice.
