I've been sitting at my desk for the last 15 minutes, staring at my boss through the transparent walls that separate our offices, admiring how handsome he is. He's talking to Leo, who's sitting across from him, and I'm waiting for Leo to leave so we can get started on the schedule for December.
My coworkers from the other floors had approached me with a suggestion to fill this month with Christmas activities, and of course, I was all for it. Who doesn't love Christmas?
When I asked why they didn't bring their ideas straight to Mr. Park, they all gave the same answer: "He listens to you" or "He tolerates you and Mrs. Hall better than he does us." I could see where they were coming from. Mr. Park is serious about his work—he doesn't tolerate any nonsense—but he's great with his employees. They just seem a bit intimidated by him.
I pushed my chair back and stood up, grabbing my planner and a pen. It was time to get to work. I walked into his office just as Leo was leaving.
"Sorry about that, he just doesn't know when to leave me alone," Mr. Park grumbled.
"It's alright," I chuckled, taking a seat in one of the chairs across from him, positioning it closer to his desk.
"So, what's the schedule looking like for this month? Is it packed?" he asked, glancing up at me.
"Surprisingly, you only have two major meetings this month, both next week. There's a staff meeting this Friday, a factory visit, and a charity event," I summarized for him.
"That all sounds great," he smiled, looking at me.
"Yes, it does," I replied with a smile of my own. "I want to run some ideas by you."
"Go ahead," he motioned for me to continue.
"As we all know, this is the month of Christmas," I started. "The workers came to me with suggestions for Christmas activities this month, and I think it's a great idea."
"What kind of activities?" he asked, his eyebrows raising slightly.
"Do you usually decorate the office this time of year?"
"Yes, but I have people come in to do that. Why?" he frowned.
"Well, your employees want to be involved in the decorating this year. They've already picked a date next week to decorate their departments, and they've chosen a theme of blue and white," I said, reading from the notes I'd made during my conversation with them.
"But the colors each year have always been the traditional Christmas colors—red, white, green, and gold," he pointed out.
"I know, but they said they wanted to try something different this time," I added, nibbling on my bottom lip. When I glanced up, his eyes were focused on me, lingering on my lips before slowly moving back up to meet my gaze.
"Fine," he sighed, clearly giving in.
"Great!" I said, excited. "The other things they want to do are Secret Santa, ugly Christmas sweater day, and awards for things like 'Most Positive Person' and 'Employee of the Year.' I asked if they wanted an office Christmas party, but they said since there's already a charity event, it's not necessary."
