Judge Turpin, with the help of Beadle Bamford, sentence the innocent Benjamin Barker to life in prison in Botany Bay; leaving his gentle wife, Lucy, and baby daughter, Johanna.
As hard as Benjamin tried to return to his home in London, the harsh conditions of the prison killed him.
Lucy lost hope in her husband's return and poisoned herself, resulting in her death. All this left baby Johanna alone; alone for Judge Turpin to raise.
Unable to keep at rest, the power of The Crow rises Benjamin Barker from the grave in order to enact his revenge and set everything right.

"People once believed that when someone dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes, something so bad happens that a terrible sadness is carried with it and the soul can't rest. Then sometimes, just sometimes, the crow can bring that soul back to put the wrong things right." ~ The Crow 1994
