It was two weeks later and I was preparing to leave my pack behind for the first time since I became alpha.
"Bye dad," I embraced my father in a hug before turning and doing the same with my mother.
"Have fun, love. You need to relax a little and maybe this will be good for you," She smiled softly. "Alice, Jordan and the rest of the pack will be fine, your father will make sure of that!"
"I know. It's just hard," I offered a quick smile before saying my goodbyes to everyone else.
My father had retired from his alpha duties last year because he was getting old and wanted to pass down the job. Didn't mean that he hadn't fully stopped being an alpha. I knew that whilst I was gone, he would keep everything in order, whether he was meaning to or not.
"Luca! Come on, we'll be late if we don't get going." I scolded my little brother and climbed in the car that was taking us to the airport.
"We'll be fine. The plane doesn't leave for ages." He grumbled but nevertheless, came and sat next to me.
We were dropped off at the airport by a pack member and from there, Luca and I quickly boarded the plane. The flight would only take three hours but we still had to travel to Redker's place which was another three hours.
I slept for most of the flight and then Luca and I took turns driving until we pulled up in front of a huge mansion that I vaguely remembered from my younger years.
"Shit, this place is fucking enormous!" Luca gaped at the building whilst I internally groaned.
"Luca! No swearing! And don't forget to call me alpha, okay?"
"Yeah, yeah," He waved me off, already out of the car and heading up the steps. I ran out after him and made it to the door just as it opened.
"Alpha Isobel Calder, so lovely to meet you again!" An old and slightly dodgy looking man greeted me and I could only assume he was Michael Redker.
"It has been so long! This is my delta and brother, Luca." I introduced the seventeen year old to him whilst I evaluated Redker. I wasn't sure whether I could trust him yet.
"Welcome! Come inside and I'll show you to your rooms. Your bags will be brought to you." Redker waved us through the door and up the stairs.
"Is anyone else staying with you?" I inquired curiously as we wandered through the hallways, Redker occasionally pointing out rooms.
"Only two others. One from the Arctic pack and one from the Smokes. I think the Arctics are nearby your territory?" Redker stopped to ponder it. "You may know him, Alpha Benjamin Clarke?"
"Can't say I've heard of him," I may not have known his name but I was certain that he must have been the wolf I met in the woods the other day. I liked to put names to faces.
"Well, I don't doubt you'll meet at some point today. Here are your rooms, if you need anything I'll be around the place somewhere." Redker smiled kindly, leaving Luca and I outside our rooms.
"I'm probably going to take a nap, yeah?" Luca yawned, already hauling his bags into his room.
"Alright then," I laughed at my brother's sleepiness. "I think I'll head down to the library and do a bit of paperwork for the pack."
"Have fun," He scrunched up his face.
Somehow I managed to find the library again and took a seat at one of the desks, taking out a couple of files and enjoying the peaceful serenity of the place.
