Now that Tails had finished making Sonic sneeze with everything he’d gathered, he placed the pepper shaker back in the box where he’d gotten it. As he moved the box aside for the time being, Sonic gave another sneeze, but it wasn’t nearly as audible as many of his other ones had been; it sounded more like a

Sonic: Nntchh-- Ugh…“

than anything.

Tails: “Well, it seems everything we’ve tried has made you sneeze at least once,” “But we still don’t know what you’re allergic to.”

Sonic responded with another audible sniffle, followed by another.

Sonic: “Well, whatever it is…”

He removed his arm from his nose, and then his free hand went up to rub one of his eyes again.

Sonic: “I wish it didn’t make me feel like this…" “Huuhh-tchooo!! Nntchuuu!!”

He released two more sneezes, then rubbed his nose with the back of his hand.

Tails: “Well, I suppose I could try to help you stop sneezing,”

Sonic: “Okay, but how?” [Sniffled!]

Tails thought for a moment, then came up with an idea. He wasn’t sure it was going to work, but he still wanted to try it.

Tails: “Why don’t you try not to breathe through your nose? If you don’t inhale what’s making you sneeze, maybe you won’t need to sneeze as much.”

Sonic: “Okay.”

Sonic nodded, then brought his tissue back up to wipe his nose.

For the next few minutes, the hedgehog breathed through his mouth, trying not to get too much air into his nose. That being said, he could feel a faint tickle beginning to build at the edges of his nostrils, but he rubbed them a few times with his hand to keep the itch from getting any worse. It seemed to work, as he didn’t begin inhaling, but he was more than certain that it wouldn’t be long before another sneeze would escape.

Tails: “Oh, and in case this doesn’t work,” “you can also hold your nose shut for a few minutes.”

Sonic: “Maybe, but that’d probably make it even harder for me to breathe,” [Clearing His Throat!]

Tails: “Oh, right,”

That was when he got another idea.

Tails: “By the way, Sonic, I’d like to share something with you, if you don’t mind…”

Sonic: “Sure, what is it?” [rubbed his nose again!]

Tails: “It’s a little strategy I tend to use when I feel a sneeze coming on,” “If I want to hold one of my sneezes back before it comes, I'll start by rubbing both sides of my nose with my thumb and index finger. Like, for example…” “Ah, ah…”

Tails lowered his eyelids, acting as though he was going to sneeze. He then brought his thumb and forefinger up to his nose, rubbing up and down a few times. A few seconds went by, but no sneeze followed, nor did any further inhales.

Sonic: “Well?”

Tails pulled his fingers away from his nose.

Tails: “I wasn’t going to sneeze, silly; I was just demonstrating.”

Sonic put his hand to his face for a moment, then pulled it off.

Sonic: “Part of me knew that.”

Tails: “It doesn’t always work,” “but it does relieve the tickle in my nose - at least, for a while. But what I’m trying to say is, what if you tried rubbing your nose like that the next time you needed to sneeze? Do you think it’ll keep it from coming?”
