As planned, Elsie was waiting for my arrival home. She is sitting on my doorstep. I waved at her and peaked inside the bag to make sure I still had everything. I did. So, we went inside and I put the bag on the same counter. I put my exes gift on all those years ago. Before he cheated on me, that is.

Now, with the bag on the counter, I watched as Elsie went through it. Elsie pulled out the rose water face mask, followed by the avocado facemask. I live for rose water and it benefits the skin and I fucking swear by it. Like, how could you not?

Rose water can be used on the face to clear any hyperpigmentation, dark spots, acne, and extra oily skin. All that, and it smells nice too!

Avocado can reduce inflammation, hydrate and moisturize the skin, prevent skin damage, improve skin elasticity, and clear up Eczema. This is the mask Elsie will use as she suffers from inflammation and dry skin.

So let's get to it, yeah?

I go to the kitchen and cut open both masks and take them out. Then, I hand a slimy mask to Elsie and keep one for myself. We put them on in the bathroom, looking in the morroir to ensure our placement is correct. Once it's on, we have to wait around fifteen to twenty minutes. So, we talk.

" You told me the interview went good, but you didn't tell me how good. " She smirks teasingly.

" Elsie! No, we did not do anything. God, I hate you sometimes. " I shake my head in disgust and disappointment.

" You know you love me. " Elsie chuckles.

" Do I? " I question back sassily.

" I don't know, do you? " Elsie plays along.

" Remind me again. Whose been my best friend for over a year? " I smooth the mask onto my face more, trying to get all the benefits possible.

" I have... " She replies quitley.

" Exactly. Of course I love you platonicly! " I see her smile, and then drop at the world ' platonicly' for some - to me - unknown reason.

" Just as friends? That's it? " She asks, looking hurt.

" Yes. You're my best- fucking-friend and you make me happy. That's the truth. I mean it, Elsie. I know you doubt yourself, but believe me, it's true. I don't know what I'd do without you, babe. " I tell her, and yes, I call her ' babe ', but we aren't dating. Truthfully, they are not.

She looks like she is thinking. I let her because what she has to say next is important to me. Minites pass before she finally speaks up.

" What if - I want to be more than just friends? " She whispers under her breath, but I still hear it.

I think about what she just said. I try to process it. She wants to date me. But I told myself no more relationships. Not after what Ethan did to me. I can't. Though she is sweat and would never cheat, I just can't. And that's what I have to tell her. Hopefully, she takes it well. I don't want to lose her. My best friend. Well, here goes everything.

" Elsie, you know me so well. Which is why you should know that my awnser will have to be no. I promised myself I wouldn't fall in love with or date anyone. Until I am healed, I have to stay single to focus on myself. I hope you can find it in your beautiful big heart to understand and forgive me. " I tell her.

" But I'm not like Ethan! " She replies pleadingly.

" I know you're not, but my awnser still stands. " I sigh, now feeling worse than ever.

" I would never, nor have I ever, cheated on someone. Please? " She looks very hurt.

" I know you wouldn't, and I'm sorry you're feeling upset. Now, let's go take off our mask and get drunk, yeah? " I stand up and offer her my hand, which she takes in hers.

We walk to the bathroom and take off the mask. We then rub the excess serum in. We each examine the results in the morroir. Elsie does not seem fully satisfied with the result. I, however, am very much satisfied by my results. My skin looks so much better!

" Hey, Elsie, you look perfect, okay? Don't be upset. " I comfort her as I lay my head on hers and wrap my arms around her.

Elsie has always been more than a bit overweight. But I think she looks great. She really does. She just doesn't see that yet, and that's okay.

" Do you want to go get something to drink? " I ask, changing the topic.

" Wine, please. " She replies and grabs my hand again.

Hand in hand, we walk back to the kitchen. I pour us each with a tall glass. It is a bit awkward between us now, admittedly, but I try to ignore it. We get on the couch, turn on a disney movie, and start drinking to my new job.
