"Hey, you ready?" Wren asks, snapping me out of my daydream. "I'm starving. Let's go."
We walk into Daisies Diner and pick a corner booth. "Do you want to share a burger basket with me, Stacia?"
"Hmm? Yea, sure." I wish I could work up enough confidence to talk to him. But he'd probably just find me annoying. I guess I'll just keep daydreaming.
"So, meet any hot guys yet?"
I can feel my cheeks getting hot as his body flashes in my thoughts.
"No. I'm not really looking. I came to college for a degree, not a boyfriend."
Wren laughs. "Who said anything about a boyfriend? I meant a one night stand. You should try it sometime, they're fun. Anyways this has been great, but I guess I should actually go to class. See you later, sis."
Finally, some peace. Maybe I can finally finish this trilogy I'm reading. But every time I start a sentence, my mind goes back to him.
I feel someone's breath over my shoulder and when I look up to see why the fuck someone is so close to me time freezes for a second. My cheeks get red, but not because I'm embarrassed. My body tingles longing for his touch. Then I snap out of it when he starts talking.
"Ooo, Reqium, that's a good one. I won't tell you how it ends."
"Umm, haha, thanks. I don't really like spoilers." I have no idea what to say right now. I can only think of how close we are and the smell of his deodorant.
"Sorry to bother you, I just wanted to apologize for the other night. You ran off so fast I didn't get a chance to see if you were ok."
"Oh, um, yea, sorry about that. I should have been paying attention." Damn it, why do I have to be so clumsy.
He laughs at me, and it's the sweetest laugh I've ever heard. "You know I'm the one who ran into you, right? You want to come join me and my friends so you don't have to eat alone? It's the least I could do."
"Oh, no thanks. I have to get back to my dorm. I need to get ready for my next class. Thanks, though." I do not have the mental energy to emberrace myself today. I just want to melt on the floor right now. I quickly grab my stuff and leave.
"I'm Liam, by the way! I really hope to run into you again."
