Being family simply means you are a part of something wonderful. It means you will always be loved no matter what, for the rest of your life.
Nobody realizes the importance of family until you don't have it anymore, much like that saying 'you don't know what you have until it's gone', you should never wait for the day to come when you're all alone for you to show the people around you how much you love them.
You truly never know which day will end up being their, or your, last.
"I won't be home until late tonight, one of my surgeries runs late plus I have to go through Ryan's charts since he called out once again." Henry, Theodora's dad, informs he as they sit down at the small dining room table to eat breakfast just like they try to do every morning, or whenever possible.
"That's okay, Ruby, River, and I plan to head to the diner after school to celebrate the end of our last first day of high school."
"That's fine, just try not to stay out too late, you know how I feel about you being out all night when I'm not home."
"I know papa," Theodora sighed dramatically, she loves her father but sometimes he's a bit overbearing, "I don't think we will be out more than a few hours after school lets out because River is trying to get his sleep schedule back on track for football and Ruby has been complaining about the fact she hasn't had time to binge 'One Day at a Time' on Netflix despite the fact she has seen that show at least a thousand times."
"That works, just be safe and make sure you look out for each other... And bring them over for dinner soon, it feels like it's been ages since I've seen those kids."
"Papa, we're going to the diner that River's mom owns, not some rager, and they were here three days ago..."
"Eh, potayto potahto."
"Sure... Now as fun as this conversation is, I have to shower and get ready, Riv will be here in two hours."
