"J'ai la question la plus importante au monde." Nicolas dramatically sighed as he threw himself backwards on to the square trampoline. the same one that the two kids had broken the net of eight months ago and their dad finally got around to fixing it, which also means they haven't gotten off the death contraption since five this morning and it's now four in the afternoon. [French translation: I have the most important question in the world]
"Quelle est votre question super importante?" Zaylen asked in response, copying him by throwing himself down on the trampoline as well, hitting the net in the process, it's a good thing their dad fixed it considering he probably would have thrown himself straight off the other end of the trampoline otherwise. [French translation: What is your super important question?]
"En classe aujourd'hui, Mademoiselle Auclair a demandé ce que nous voulions faire quand nous serons grands et cela m'a fait réfléchir..." [French translation: In class today Miss Auclair asked what we wanted to be when we grow up and it got me thinking... ]
"Euh oh... ce n'est pas bon." Zee giggled, he hears their dad say that joke to their mom all the time, he can't help but find it a little funny. [French translation: Uh oh... That's not good]
"Hé! Chut ! Quoi qu'il en soit... Comme je l'ai dit... Ça m'a fait réfléchir. Pourquoi devons-nous nous concentrer là-dessus maintenant ? Je veux dire, il nous faudra encore beaucoup de temps avant de devenir vieux, alors pourquoi est-ce important maintenant ? Il y a tellement d'enfants qui veulent être la même chose... C'est toujours la même chose. Par exemple, il y avait au moins huit enfants qui affirmaient vouloir être célèbres et c'est tout ce qu'ils voulaient dans la vie ou dix enfants qui disaient vouloir devenir médecins, mais cela ressemble à beaucoup de travail.
Nous apprenons encore à additionner de grands nombres, alors pourquoi ce que nous voulons être dans un million d'années est-il important ? C'est idiot. Je veux pouvoir aider les gens, je ne sais tout simplement pas comment et je ne veux pas suivre ce que font ou disent les autres ou quoi que ce soit... Je sais que la plupart de ma classe ont dit médecins ou flics, ou quelque chose comme ça. Je ne pense pas que je veuille ça. Je ne suis tout simplement pas sûr des autres options disponibles." Hey! Shush! Anyway... As I was saying... It got me thinking. Why do we have to focus on this now? I mean it's still a long time before we are old so why does it matter now? There's so many kids that want to be the same thing... It's always the same. Like there was at least eight kids that claimed to want to be famous and that's all they want in life or there were ten kids that said they wanted to be doctors but that sounds like a lot of work.
