April 2004

Leah "Sneaking out now. See you in 20. If you don't it means I've been caught and my mom has killed me :)"

Sam: "Ok baby. Try not to get killed ;) No need to knock just come in when you arrive"

I smile at the text that my boyfriend Sam sent then put my phone away and quietly walk over to my bedroom window and quickly stretch from my bedroom window to the tree next to my window and slowly climb down it. Once I reach the ground I put up the hood from my black hoodie as my disguise and walk quickly to Sam's house. It's a small town. Everybody knows everybody and if I get caught my mom would most definitely kill me. It's a Thursday night and on Thursday nights Sam's mom Alison does the night shift at the 24-hour diner she works at so from 8 pm on Thursday until 6 am on Friday mornings Sam has the small but cosy house to himself which is the perfect opportunity for us to spend time together without our parents or my annoying little brother annoying us. So for the past few months on Thursday nights once his mom is at work and I'm sure my parents and Seth are asleep I sneak out to Sam's and then sneak back in the following morning before anyone wakes up.

When I arrive at Sam's I let myself in and walk around trying to find him. I don't see him at first but as I walking into the small sitting room I feel his unusually warm 6'2 body press against my 5'3 body and his strong arms wrap around my waist. "Gotcha Lee Lee" he whispers in my ear and I smile then turn myself around and press my lips to his wrapping my arms around his neck whilst he keeps his arms around my waist. Not many of our friends understand my and Sam's relationship. They're dating or fooling around with someone new every few weeks. With me and Sam, it's not like that. We've been best friends since we were babies. Our moms have been best friends since middle school so we pretty much grew up together. Then when we were 14 he asked me out on a date during recess and gave me a candy ring, I said yes and we've been together ever since. He's everything I want. Yes, he's hot as fuck with his 6'2 frame and muscular build, tan skin, warm, kind eyes that I could get lost in, dark long hair, chiselled jawline and the most amazing smile but He's also smart, funny, kind, caring, honest, he listens to me when I need to vent even if it's over something stupid that's not important like an ending to a movie or tv show, he's always there for me no matter what. He's 100% committed to me and I am to him as well. There is no one else I want to spend my life with. There is nobody I love and trust more than him.

I'm broken out of my trance when he pulls away from the kiss. I look at him and pout and he just laughs and moves a few strands of hair out of my face. "If I don't stop now I never will and I know for a fact you're hungry so you should probably eat before we do anything," he tells me and I roll my eyes "I'm not hungry," I tell him but as if on cue my stomach suddenly growls loudly giving me away and Sam raises an eyebrow. "Well your stomach begs to differ"

I shouldn't be this hungry. I had two generous helpings of my dad's famous fish fry at dinner. Thank god my parents always cook enough to feed a small village. I should be stuffed but I feel like I've not eaten a thing in weeks. This has been going on for a few months now. No Matter how much I eat I always seem to be starving. My best guess is that it's because I've been running a lot more at track lately and I've also been putting in extra effort at basketball and volleyball practice as we've got tournament's coming up. My body probably just needs the extra fuel to keep up with me. Sam smiles at me and then we make our way to the kitchen and I watch him as he makes our food. He doesn't look like an 18-year-old. Most people think he's in his early 20's.

I can't wait for us to graduate high school in a few months and get away from this boring town. We've both been accepted into Stanford University in California. I'm going to study to be a doctor and Sam is going to be studying to be a mechanical engineer. Sam deserves this more than anyone I know. His dad was a deadbeat who left him and his mom years ago. Sam has worked his ass off to make sure he doesn't end up like his dad. Not that it would ever happen. He's everything his father was not.
