An-Nay, who is still talking, narrows her eyes on the door as her words become quiet. Suddenly, a random flash of lightning blinds both girls. Blue light with a crackle, sounding like two pieces of glass rubbing against each other. Both girls scream. One of the screams dies down, but Kamaria still keeps screaming and falls to the ground from the shock. How could lightning strike in a house? It is too scary for them. Kamaria's insides twist, her eyes stained with blood as her vision clears. Falling to the floor, An-Nay's burned body crackles with electricity.
"Speak to me, An-Nay. Come one you still have a lot of men to steal... An-Nay? Wake up... I beg you... Look, I will make your favourite cake for you right now! If you dont wake up I will eat it all on my own! An-Nay... An-Nay... An-Nay..."
The undying beauty she possessed is still visible through the black coal-like burned flesh. Kamaria yells again. Eyes as dark as the blackwater lake spill over, widening in shock. She crawls desperately, reaching for her friend's body, hoping there is still a hint of life in her. Kamaria's lips tremble with sorrow. How could something so impossible happen to them? Is this Kamaria's fault? Touching the rough burnt skin sends an unsavoury electrical sting through her body. What should she do? It is so odd. Lightning coming out of nowhere and damaging nothing. The roof above her is still intact, no flames rage, and no one comes running to check out what happened. Only An-Nay is injured on the floor. Her desperation keeps her from giving up. Kamaria's hand falls weakly on An-Nay's body. Even with the stings of electricity, she cannot stop herself from thinking this is a sick joke. The pain mixes with the nauseating smell of burned meat, gagging Kamaria. However, she continues her words. What has happened is really more cruel than the devil demands for a dance.
Her mind blanks at the smell of burned pork, then returns as if she is fainting but quickly wakes up. She repeats, like a chant, "Oh," then stops and sings her friend's name in a soft voice. She is angry—angry at the lightning, angry at the world, angry at everything, angry with God for playing such an unfunny joke on her friend. Jokes should be mutual experiences, consensual even, but then again, no one asked for her consent. Although An-Nay said those blasphemous words, they were merely said in good jest. All Kamaria has at that moment is anger and a song.
"My beloved was scared of me? I do not bite, Kamaria. I assure you, I am not one to cause harm through biting. Do you desire to experience such passion? Grazing grasses, let the deers see the lions eat you." His voice is cold and full of emotion, yet extremely alluring and enchanting. The husky voice floats loudly from above the heavens. Kamaria speaks with confusion evident in her voice as the male materialises out of nothing in front of her. The man before her stands confidently, oozing a golden glow of beauty. He is god, controlling the gifts bestowed by the universe. And if she wants safety—true safety, freedom from him—then she should escape through the door. Run! But leave An-Nay? Kamaria narrows her eyes, trying to tune the man out, and feels her heart growing faint.
