Chapter 13- Missing Girl Found

It was the day Lilian would finally be expecting the results of the DNA testing package she sent

she opened the box to find her items separated in individual plastic wraps alongside a folder of the report analysis. She pulled out the first sheet in the folder, filled with diagrams and statistics, subtracting the answer at the bottom. She read it, and her jaw dropped.

Lilian was guilty of it- but she dug through the garbage can for Xavier's coffee cup after he left. She sent him off, watching his car drive away into the road, and immediately headed back inside. A few workers gave her a concerned glance but brushed it off as she searched for a lost belonging.

Xavier noticed her mood was off after the attempt at the kiss. Still, he didn't make a vast hassle over it- he received a call from the CEO asking him to come in for an emergency work meeting moments later, something about cash flow and revenue. He had to leave immediately, not suspecting so much from her as Lilian was still trying to process the whole situation, except for the simple "Are you okay," as a kind gesture.

That's one thing Lilian hated about him - his uncertainty, work schedule, emotions, and availability; it can change within the duration of a storm.

Lilian quickly snuck the cup into her bag; coffee residue and other garbage fluids have forsaken a greenish-brown stain through her purse, a searing aroma of rotten produce. She

While she rested at the neighbourhood communal centre, she overheard 2 ladies develop a plan to eventually catch their partner being unfaithful, and one began talking about a DNA testing kit from this catering website. She immediately ordered a test kit, which arrived on her porch within 2 days. Lilian packed Xavier's coffee-stained cup, the tape roll that appeared in Daniel's bag, and an original copy of the letters she received and shipped it off. She preferred this, without the interference of the police forces, in case more things were revealed than intended.

Looking at the report, Lilian realized that her gut instincts were correct- Rose Adams is, in fact, Xavier Woods, and the fingerprints on all 3 items matched the database as identical. He's been sending her letters and the same guy who snuck things into Daniel's bag. Although she despised confrontation, she wanted answers for herself, wondering if all of it was connected somehow. Lilian needed to know how it happened and why, perhaps revealing the solution to other mysteries.

Lilian picked up her phone and opened the messages app to find Xavier's contact. She hasn't messaged him since their breakup, and the contact photo is still from when they shared their first kiss.

"Xavier, I need to talk to you about something important, and it would be difficult over the phone. No spoilers! Let's meet somewhere where we can talk in private. My place or yours? Get back to me as soon as possible!"

Lilian pressed send and turned off her phone. She heard her phone buzz momentarily, with a blue notification on the top of her screen.

"Sure. I hope it's nothing too serious. How about my place tomorrow at 4? That will leave us time to grab dinner as well."
