"Ciri, dear, come help me with the supper. Geralt should be home soon." I call. Ciri skips into the kitchen and helps me by cutting up some vegetables. "You know how the man is when he doesn't get food." I chuckle. She giggles and I kiss her head. "My sweet girl." I smile.
Soon we finish the soup and leave it over a low fire to keep it warm. "Please will you braid my hair Y/n?" Ciri asks, holding her brush. "Of course, love." I chuckle. She sits on the floor in from of me and a begin to braid her hair in a fish tale.
Just as I finish her hair, by putting in the hair tie, Geralt walks in. "Geralt, my love how was your- Oh my word! What is that?" I ask worried. "A baby. I found it abandoned in the forest. I searched for it parents but there was no one around at all." He whispers.
I walk over to him and peer into the blanket. Inside I see a sweet little baby girl. I gasp at her beauty. Ciri walks over and peers at the baby. I scoop the child from Geralt's arms and bounce her softly. "Was there a note or anything?" I ask worried. "Yes. It just said the child's name and that they couldn't care for her." Geralt whispers, stroking the baby's head.
"What's her name?" I ask him eager. "Y/d/n." He replies. "Can we keep her?" I beg him. He nods and smiles. "Welcome to the family, little wolf." I whisper, kissing Y/d/n's head. Geralt wraps his arm around me and smiles softly at the baby.
"You got what you always wanted. A baby." Geralt chuckles. Out of the corner of my eye I see Ciri frown and look away. "I'm going to go to bed. Good night." She mumbles just about to leave. "Wait, what about supper?" I asks worried. "I'm not hungry." She smiles and leaves.
I frown sadly. "She didn't even ask one of us to tuck her in." I sigh. "She's growing up Y/n. Maybe she just wants to act more mature." Geralt soothes. "Like father like daughter." I mutter.
"Come on, let's have some supper." I smile. I lay the sleeping baby on the sofa as I prepare three bowls of soup. "I'm just going to take this to Ciri." I smile. "I thought she said she wasn't hungry." Geralt reminds me. "Mother's instinct." I chuckle.
I head to Ciri's room and knock on the door. However, I don't get an answer. I walk in and see her room is empty. She must be in the bathroom. I place the bowl on her nightstand and grab a pen and paper. "From Y/n xxx" I sign. I leave the room and head back to the kitchen.
Just as I'm about to enter I hear Geralt humming. I peer around the door frame and see him rocking the baby. I smile at the sight and watch for a while. "You know I can see you watching right?" He whispers. "I know." I chuckle quietly.
I head to the table and sit down. Seeing Geralt has already finished his soup, I eat mine quickly. I place the bowls in the sink and we head to bed. Using my magic, I conjure up a crib for Y/d/n and lay her in it gently.
Me and Geralt change into out sleep wear and climb into bed. "Goodnight, love." I whisper and I cuddle into his broad chest. Soon, sleep consumes me and I fell into a deep sleep.
The next morning, I wake up before Geralt and go into the kitchen to prepare breakfast. I make eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms and beans. After a while Geralt walks in carrying a happy Y/d/n. "Hello sweet girl! Did you have a nice sleep?" I coo.
"Ciri! Breakfast is ready!" I call out to wake her. After five minutes she walks in with a frown. "Good morning Ciri!" I smile and kiss her head. She sits at the table, opposite to Geralt, as I dish up food. We all dig in a I hand Geralt the bottle of warm goats milk I prepared for Y/d/n. He feeds her once he is done and Ciri gets up and collects our plates.
"Thank you, dear." I smile. She nods and heads outside. "What's up with her?" I ask Geralt frowning. "I'm not sure. She's been off since yesterday." He tells me. "Let's go talk to her." I suggest. "Leave Y/d/n in her crib. I'll place a protection charm over it." I tell him.
I lay Y/d/n in the crib and cast a spell to keep her safe. I grab Geralt's hand and drag him out to find Ciri. As we exit our little house I scan the area for Ciri. I see her sat over at the edge of the cliff and she's staring out.
We head over and sit next to her. "Ciri?" Geralt asks softly. "What's wrong, love?" I ask her placing a hand on her shoulder. "Nothing." She mumbles. "Ciri, don't lie to us, we know something is bothering you." Geralt tries.
"Do you both even love me?" She whispers, looking down. "What are you talking about?! Of course we love you Ciri! You're our little girl!" I coo. "No I'm not! Y/d/n is! She's your little girl!" She yells and gets up walking away.
Geralt stares at me in shock and his eyes fill with tears. I stand up and kiss his head. "Let me talk to her." I smiles. I follow Ciri who runs to the trees sobbing. She plops down and begins to sob into her knees.
I sit next to her and pull her into my chest. "What's wrong, my love?" I ask. "Y/d/n is your favourite! It's obvious that you would both prefer a baby, since neither of you can have one!" She sobs.
"Oh, honey, heavens no! You should know that neither me or Geralt love you any less now that we have Y/d/n. I always wanted a baby, Yes, but I prefer having a lovely girl like you who I can have a girl day with!" I coo. I kiss her head and a small tear rolls down my cheek.
"I think you should talk to Geralt. He's a bit upset about earlier." I whisper. "He hates me." She whispers mortified. "Ciri! No! He could never hate you! You're his little girl. You're his daughter, he's just more upset you think your not." I remind her.
She gets up and runs back to Geralt. She jumps on his back and wraps her arms around his neck. "I'm sorry." She mumbles into his neck. "I didn't mean to upset you, I just felt left out." She tells him as she sits on his lap.
"Don't you ever think you're not my little girl. You were here first. It's always been me and you. Don't ever think I love you any less." Geralt begs her. "I won't." She smiles and he hugs her tight.
"It's just, seeing you hold Y/d/n, you looked so happy. You have what you always wanted, a baby. Not a teenager who nearly gets killed every day." Ciri cries into his chest. "I didn't just want a baby, Ciri. I always thought I couldn't have a child in my life because of how dangerous it is. But I have you. You're old enough to protect yourself and that's what I love about you." Geralt whispers into her hair.
"My little girl." He whispers. "My father." She whispers back, cuddling into his chest. I smile at the sight and head over to them. "Why don't we all go cuddle up inside? We can play some games." I suggest, crouching in front of my two loves. Ciri nods, causing Geralt to smile. We head inside and spend the rest of the night cuddles up.
