He stood thier, seeing what I would do next. And, I didnt know what to do. So, I just tried to do what I saw everyone else do. That didnt work, she kept pullin and trying to get away. I sort of did it my own way. It seemed to work, because she just stood their, staring at me. I guess she decided to trust me. She let me get close, I breathed into her nostrils. Joe taught me that. It calmed her, and it worked! Mr. Jessup looked at both of us for a while, then said. "If you can put a saddle on her, you can keep her." He started walking away, then turned around and said, "More likely she'll keep you." He took another horse from his trailer, this one looked different, he looked strong and smart. "Meet Lightning, Rodeo Quality. " he said, nodding his head. He took Lightning to the corral and we saw what he could do. He looked confident, and seemed to know what to do. He did it so well, that he seemed perfect. Mr. Jessup roped for a while, and I was the bull, I turned the bar that had a bull head. He roped the horns, one time he roped me, which gave us both a good laugh. We finished and he patted Lightning. "This is going to be a great horse." He said. And he was a great horse, gentle and peaceful. I went to check on Lady, she still fussed but seemed a bit calmer. I wondered how I would ride her.......
