You set bowls of snacks, glasses, juices and beer on the coffee table in the living room. You lit your favorite candle that you always lit on November nights. The faint scent of vanilla wafted through the air and reminded you that Christmas was coming soon, followed by a new year. You were hoping that Jungkook, Seokjin and Jaehyun would join you on New Year's Eve this year and you'd be able to spend this time together.
Namjoon left the bathroom smiling broadly, entered the living room and crossed his arms over his chest. "Can't you just let it go once and not prepare anything? You always have to tire yourself out?" he said, amused, looking at the food on the table. Besides the snacks, there was also a bowl of fries and your favorite breaded chicken with cheese.
"Never." You giggled and pointed to the table. "Sit down and let's eat while it's hot. Besides, I didn't bother getting ready at all." you said calmly taking a place on the carpet, where after a while Namu joined you and you both reached for your portion.
"Have you been thinking about Minji's birthday? I would like to give her something special, something from the heart. But I don't really know what it could be." You admitted a bit resigned.
"I thought about it. I really have no idea what we could give her. I was thinking about a book because she likes to read a lot. Or an album by your favorite band." He mused aloud. "I haven't decided yet. As for the party. You were supposed to ask if we could celebrate where you were yesterday."
"Ah yes! I asked, the owners don't mind, as long as it's polite. I said we're not going to get drunk or anything, or we'll laugh or talk louder." You summarized to your friend your conversation with the owners of the diner where you and Jungkook had dinner last night. We got a table in the gazebo, because there are always fewer people there in the evenings, and it's super cozy and warm because it is heated. They also said that we won't disturb other guests there, because the gazebo is separated from the rest of the premises by a thick glass wall."
"And great. Sounds great. Six? So you're coming with Jungkook?"
"I'd like to... I don't think Minnie will mind if I take him with me. I wish you two could finally get to know each other." You admitted and sighed.
"They also want to meet him. I was thinking, since we're all going to The Hobbit for lunch on Monday, why don't you come with him? I'm sure no one will mind, they'll be happy. Taehyung is absolutely bursting with curiosity." After his statement, you both burst out laughing.
"Yeah, sure," you laughed, imagining your friend biting his nails in excitement. "That's a great idea, Joon, thanks. I'll tell him about it tomorrow, but I think he'll agree."
"How are you doing overall? do you get along? Is fine?"
"Yes, it's really good. We find a common language, we understand each other almost without words, we spend good time together. And most importantly, he respects me and my decisions." At these words, Namjoon smiled to himself as he poked his chopsticks in the meat leftover box. "He listens to what I have to say. But you know, he doesn't listen just to listen. really listens to me to understand and respond meaningfully."
