Like any typical day for a student at the academy, Jasmine woke up to the sound of her phone alarm precisely at 5 am. She neatly made her bed, grabbed her towel, and headed to the bathroom for a refreshing shower. After bathing, she dressed in her uniform, slung her shoulder bag over her arm, took one last glance in the mirror, and then made her way downstairs to the kitchen, where she took a seat.
From 5 to 6 am, Jasmine followed her daily routine to ensure she looked presentable and embodied the essence of a well-disciplined student at the academy's College of Criminal Justice Education. As a role model and senior to her juniors, she always set the best example for the younger students, subtly guiding them as future law enforcers who would serve and protect the community.
She greeted her mother, who was busy flipping eggs in the pan, with a warm "Good morning, Ma."
"Morning, dear. Have a seat and enjoy your breakfast," her mother replied, not turning away from the stove, still focused on cooking.
Jasmine looks at her sister across the table, leans over, and snatches the phone away from her, who is now in shocked and scowling at the one who took her phone.
"btch, give that back". Jnelle snarl at Jasmine.
Jasmine just looked at her with no reaction. " no phones allowed on the table."
and keep the phone in her bag. "You will have it once you finish your breakfast". she smirks at her, more like teasing her.
Jnelle also stares back at her big sister with a blank face and gives her the middle finger. "This is why I don't like you".
Jasmine sighed and smirked. "This is why I love you."
after she said that jnelle has a grimace look on her face and rolled her eyes at her sister. "ewwwww, nooooo...... cringe"
Jasmine just laughed. "Maybe you should stop this habit of yours scrolling through your phone while eating on the table, it is so disrespectful." she lectured.
" you don't get to tell me what to do"
"that is Enough you two," her mother said, and put each sunny side up on their plate.
Edna sit at the center of the table and glance at Jnelle. "your sister is right sweet heart, the dining table is sacred and we should respect it.
After 20 minutes of eating breakfast and brushing their teeth, Jnelle's school bus arrived. Jasmine hugged her mother and Jnelle extended her hand towards her sister.
Jasmine reached into her bag, retrieved her sister's phone, and handed it to her. "Study well," she said, patting her sister's head affectionately.
Jnelle nodded and hurried off towards the school bus.
"Me too, Ma, I have to go... bye." Jasmine kissed her mother's cheek and embraced her warmly.
In a similar routine, Edna went upstairs to change from being a housewife to a kindergarten teacher. With her husband working overseas and only returning once a year, their family relied on his salary to sustain them, covering their daily meals, bills, and their daughters' tuition fees. Edna's role as a kindergarten teacher played a significant part in supporting the household finances.
While Jasmine strolled, listening to music through her earbuds, she was unaware of someone behind her. A tap on her left shoulder startled her, prompting her to remove her earbud from the right ear, turn her head to the right, and greet the person with a smile.
