Night approached and Nina still hadn't shown up.
"She should be here by now." Fabian said as we all sat in the common room, now worried that Nina was in trouble.
"She's just late. She'll be here." Mara said patting Fabians shoulder.
Just then there arose a clatter in the entrance hall.
"NINA!!!!" Amber ran out into the hall to greet her. "I'm soooooo happy you're finally here!" Amber told her as everyone flooded into the hallway to greet Nina.
"I'm sooo glad you made it." Fabian said and shared a kiss with Nina.
"Great to see you again." I told her giving her a hug.
"Sorry I'm so late guys... I had to talk to Mr Sweet about something."
"What'd you have talk to my dad about ??" Eddie looked almost concerned.
"Nothing much."
"IT'S TEN O-CLOCK!!! YOU HAVE FIVE MINUTES PRECISELY AND THEN I WANT TO HEAR A PIN DROP!!!" Victors voice boomed.
We all headed off to our rooms for the first night back.
EDDIE PV
"So Fabian where does Sibuna usually
meet at??"
"Well it depends...usually it's just out in the hallway... Or in Nina and Amber's room... But the first Sibuna meeting happens in the attic." Fabian said, sitting on his bed strumming one of the guitars that lay around our room.
"Then why didn't Patricia tell me that?"
"We'll what did she say??"
"Nothing...that's the thing she's been oddly quiet... And for her that's almost impossible."
"That's only to you... And that's because she really likes you."
I say on my bed pondering that thought. It could be true... I mean Patricia did say that she really hasn't dated anyone else. I had missed her over the summer, even her accent made appearances in my dreams...dreams...I had been having some awful ones this summer. Nina said it was only because I was the Osirian, but they felt oddly real... Like they were telling me things. I contemplated telling Fabian about them, he usually could interpret ancient Egyptian things.
"Okay. It's eleven." Fabian set his guitar down and I snapped out of my thinking.
We stepped out of our room as quietly as possible. We waited a few seconds and Alfie joined us coming out from his room.
"Let's go."
We snuck up the steps ducking down to avoid from being seen by Victor. When we reached the attic door it stood open a crack. The girls were already up. So we headed up.
"Sibuna." Amber put her handover her eye. Everyone copied. "I'm sooooo happy we're back!! So anyone know of the latest mystery??"
"Maybe it has something to do with the Osirian?!" Alfie commented.
"Yeah, why was Senkara soo keen to 'awaken' him?!" Amber continued on the subject.
"You guys know I'm right here?!" I took a seat on a chair to my right.
"Yeah, sorry." Nina replied to me.
"Sooooooooo...... Why don't we just wait until we ind a real mystery?!" Patricia commented. I could see her glance over here quickly.
"Because this year I want to be ahead of the mystey." Amber commented.
"I think Patricia is correct... We should wait until there is a real mystery. Who knows we might get lucky this year and not have to solve one." Fabian commented, he had taken a seat next to Nina.
"Do you know how unlikely that is Fabian??" Amber asked him. "Like zero percent."
"Well, knowing this place, there'll be a mystery by tomorrow." Nina pulled out her locket. She got up and headed to the corner of the wall near the door. She held up the locket and a circle glowed red on the wall. She set the locket against the circle and part of the wall slid away revealing a secret shelf that held an ancient cup. She took out the cup and looked at it.
"What's that?" I asked before I could really think of what I was saying.
"It's the ancient cup of Anhk, when you drink the elixir of life from this cup it grants you immortality at the cost of another's life." Nina explained sitting back down with the cup. "We rebuilt it a couple years ago, and his it here last year."
"There's an elixir of life?" This was seeming really crazy.
"Yes and Victor is trying to replicate it in the cellar."
"So THATs what those chemicals were." Now this was making more sense.
Fabian pulled out his phone checking the time. "I think, unless there's anything else, this Sibuna meeting can be over. The first day of term is tomorrow."
The meeting dismissed and we all headed to our rooms to get a good night sleep. But that is far from what I got.
"So tell us again what you saw?" Fabian asked as we sat down at breakfast the next day. I realized Mara, Jerome, and Joy weren't there. How is it that Sibuna has like the power to be alone at meals to discuss their Sibuna-y things.
"Well it felt real." Part of my brain noticed Nina wasn't there at the table. "I stood in this strange tunnel. And some girl stood next to me, she took out a key and inserted it into a slot on what looked like a solid wall. The wall slide away and revealed a secret room, inside the room was dark and then we stepped inside and the room lit up." I picked up the glass of orange juice in front of me.
"What was in the room?" Amber asked Eddie.
"I don't know, I woke up before I could see." I told her.
"Hey guys, you Sibuna-ing?" Joy stepped into the dinning room.
"Joy you can join if you want." Patricia told her.
"Nah, I'm good. I kind of want a normal year." Joy smiled, "but thanks." She took her seat and started eating.
Just then Victor came into the room. "Move, move, move!!!!" He said shooing us along. "Your to be at class. Edison, your father need to talk to you." I got up from the table and headed to school
I arrived at school and was about to knock on my father's door when it was abruptly opened and out came Nina.
"Sorry." She apologized, then walked off to her locker.
I walked into the office. "Why is Nina talking to you so much??" I asked him shutting the door behind me.
"Just talking about school work. So how was your summer?" He asked me.
"Good, I guess."I answered simply.
"And what about you and Miss Williamson?"
"We're still together."
"Great, I'm glad your happy here. Well I have to go introduce the new student." He escorted me out of his office.
