gus's POV

It's been weeks since isla joined us, everything is fine. The hunt is still not over as the last mens that are held by Helen Zhang are still going after us..

It hurts me to see other hybrids get taken away. I found some in the wild, dead or rotting. Some decayed and some are no longer skin just bones.

Bear and jepperd disappeared and hasn't came back for over a week now. We looked but found nothing. We're deeply in fear and worries and although we have eachother i still felt alone and my heart is in sorrows

Isla has been real quiet and doesn't spend and time with me or Wendy or the kids. Most of them are starting to grow distant with her and some even hates her.

Wendy on the other side is still patient, because she speaks and laughs with Wendy sometimes but... Just sometimes. When she's having a bad day which is 4x a week or more she won't talk to anyone and even leave the cabin sometimes to roam around the forest.

I opened my eyes and saw Isla in her bed but Wendy and finn wasn't "mornin.. Hey where's the others.?" I asked in a rusty morning voice.

"Don't know, don't care."
She said with her same morning attitude. It's no point talking to her if she just replies like that

"Mhm. Alright well do whatever fox shit you're doing I'm outta here."
I laughed as she slowly turned around probably wishing I will trip and land on a pile full of cactus, but I smiled and left. I liked teasing her sometimes, it doesn't brighten her mood but mine does!

I left the room and saw the others having a discussion I scanned their face before walking towards them "hey? Group discussion without me? No fair!" I pouted as Wendy rolled her eyes and asked me to sit

"Gus.. They know where we are, they marked us. This time it's not the pink one that they used with your pubba or my mom. It's green."
Wendy frowned and looked down as my smile fastly disappeared.

"No no, we can't just leave.. They'll destroy this just like how they destroyed the preserve..."
I whined and struggled to focus as my mind went blank

"Gus!! You have to listen to Wendy! We're running out of time and if we don't get out we'll be in danger.. Try to understand that! It's not just for you it's for all of us!!"
Finn tried to fight with my words to convince me. I tried to say something but my throat is dry

"They.. Saw... Isla."
Wendy's voice turned into whispers slowly as she finished her sentence.

"Wh-what do you mean? What does that have to do with anything.. Isla is strong they can't take her away.." I protested

"It's not it Gus! Isla is the one who endangered our lives!" Finn shouted and had his left hand In his forehead devastated and disappointed

I was extremely confused.. Isla? No she wouldn't do that, if anything she cares about us deeply. Even though she doesn't show it we know she does.

"Isla didn't obeyed me when I asked her to stay indoors one night because the last men's are gonna look for us in this erea... We knew because she also once warned us that they're not far away. But she was obviously once again her disobedient self and roamed around the forest in the middle of the night. One of them saw her and I saw them running towards her and she shot them and runs to the cabin. Breathless she said we're safe and went to bed.
A day after that we saw the green ribbon."
Wendy explained making me flinch in horror.
She didn't mean to does she? It doesn't matter. What matters is we have to get out of here.

"You do know we have to gave up someone right? Because if we didn't they won't stop until they get Isla. Those mens are mad as hell."
Finn said making me once again flinch.

"No no we don't have to sacrifice someone.. We'll think of another way.."
I said as I start to think of something but got interrupted "there's no other way" the first time I heard Jojo speak. As she frowned and looked to the floor fidgeting her fingers.

"Does that mean.."
I got interrupted as Isla went outside all packed up with her bow and arrow and looked at us confused why we're all gathered

"Another gathering that i don't know about? Not new." she said as she turned to walk into the forest. I want to call her out but Wendy stopped me.
"Yes. We do."
She sighed.

I can't believe we have to betray her, I mean we gotta do what we gotta do. But Wendy promised that if jepperd and bear comes back we're gonna save her and she won't end up like the other hybrids.
