Jennifer's POV

Kenza, my roommate, and I were sitting together, browsing through various job listings in an attempt to find a new career opportunity in the bustling city of Seoul, South Korea. After completing college with excellent academic records and obtaining degrees that we had hoped would give us an edge in the workforce, we found ourselves struggling to find suitable employment.

My degree was focused on mastering multiple foreign languages—six to be precise—but opportunities for translators were scarce and highly competitive. On the other hand, Kenza had pursued a degree in dance, only to discover that the primary local demand for dancers was limited to backup roles at K-pop training camps. Although she could secure such a position, her true aspirations involved exploring the world and expanding her horizons rather than being confined to a single location.

With a displeased tone, she muttered, "Ugh seriously, just a maid job?" as she showed me the advertisement.

I responded in excitement, "Well, hold on; it pays 260,000 Won every week! That amounts to around two thousand US dollars!"I said.

Kenza raised an eyebrow, considering the possibilities. "Well, it is a good amount of money... but being a maid? Are we really that desperate?"

I sighed and continued browsing through other job listings, feeling the weight of the world on our shoulders. We had moved to Seoul for a fresh start and better opportunities, but it seemed as though we couldn't catch a break. The city was bursting with countless ambitious and talented individuals like us, which only added to the intense pressure.

As we continued searching, the sun began to set outside our tiny shared apartment. The golden rays cast somber shadows throughout the room, reflecting our growing emotions of hopelessness and despair.

"I can't believe this," Kenza said exasperatedly. "We're college graduates, and we can't find any decent jobs. What's wrong with this picture?"

I took a deep breath and replied softly, "The world doesn't owe us anything, Kenza. We just have to keep on going and not give up."

She looked at me with a defeated expression before nodding in agreement. "Alright then," she said resolutely. "Let's not limit ourselves to traditional careers; let's think outside the box."

We went thru them for a couple of hours before we had to accept defeat. Right now we just had to get jobs and make money to pay our bills. So Kenza was gonna go with a backup dancer job and i settled on the maid job for now, it was amazing money.

The following day, as I prepared for my interview for the job as a maid, I couldn't help but think about how drastically different this experience would be from what I had initially envisioned for my life after college. Regardless, I reminded myself that this was only temporary, and the money would help us get back on our feet. Likewise, Kenza was preparing for her upcoming audition as a backup dancer at one of the leading entertainment companies in Seoul.

Feeling both nervous and slightly overwhelmed, I pulled out my smartphone to send an encouraging message to Kenza before beginning my tasks for the day. "You've got this! Remember to give it your all during your audition! 💪" I typed out and hit send.

As I arrived at the luxurious penthouse that would be where my interview took place, I was greeted by the building's manager, who took me up to the residence belonging to a wealthy entertainer who traveled frequently and needed someone to keep his home immaculate when he returned. My responsibilities would include cleaning and maintaining the rooms, laundry, and shopping for essential groceries.
