Jennifer's POV

The sun had just started to rise when my phone broke the silence at 7 am. I groggily sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep from my eyes as I reached for the phone beside me. To my surprise, it was about the job opportunity! Kenza would be absolutely thrilled to hear the news!

"Hello?" I murmured quietly, attempting to shake off my drowsiness.

"Jennifer, this is Mr. Han," came the reply. "We'd like to offer you the cleaning position. Would it be possible for you to come in today and complete the necessary paperwork?"

I felt a surge of excitement rushes through me. This was it – the opportunity I had been waiting for! "Of course, Mr. Han," I replied, trying to sound as professional as possible. "I can come in today. What time would you like me to be there?"

"Great!" he said cheerfully. "I'll see you at 9 am at our main office then. I'll send you the details via email. Have a great day!"

"Thank you so much, Mr. Han," I said, my voice still somewhat shaky with a mix of excitement and nerves. "I'll see you soon!" I hung up the phone and stared at it for a moment before letting out a squeal of pure joy.

Quickly, I got out of bed and began to prepare for my day ahead. I took a shower, feeling the warm water cascade over me and allowing it to wash away any lingering traces of sleepiness. Once finished, I wrapped myself in a towel and stood in front of my closet pondering what to wear.

After much deliberation, I finally settled on a simple but professional blouse and skirt combo that would showcase my professionalism but also allowed for the comfort needed for a potentially long day ahead.

Satisfied with my choice, I slipped into my clothes and put on some light makeup – just enough to make me look put-together without appearing too overdone.

Kenza rushed into my room - she must have heard my phone call earlier - her eyes wide with inquiry. "How did it go? Did you get the job?" she asked breathlessly, barely able to contain her excitement.

"Yes!" I whispered loudly, grinning from ear to ear as we clasped hands and jumped up and down together in celebration.

"I knew it! Congrats!" Kenza beamed at me, wrapping me up in an impromptu hug before we moved over toward the kitchen. "We should grab some breakfast before you head out."

After a quick meal of some toast, scrambled eggs, and a cup of much-needed coffee, I glanced at my phone and realized it was almost time to leave.

Sensing my urgency, Kenza quickly hugged me one last time. "I'm so proud of

you, Jennifer! Good luck with everything today. You're going to do amazing!"

I smiled and gave her a quick nod before slipping out the door and into the crisp morning air. It was a beautiful and clear day – the perfect backdrop for such a monumental occasion!

As I made my way to the primary office where I would be meeting Mr. Han, I couldn't help but become nostalgic about the journey that had led me here, and the countless hours spent on job applications, interviews, and rejections all made this moment even sweeter than it already was.

Entering the building, I quickly spotted Mr. Han who greeted me with a warm smile. We exchanged pleasantries before he led me into a small conference room where we would be reviewing and signing the required paperwork.

I couldn't believe that this was actually happening! This job would change my life in so many ways – financial security, new friendships, and perhaps even the chance to discover new passions through my work.

Overwhelmed by these thoughts, I barely registered Mr. Han explaining some of the specifics of my employment contract – things like starting salary, health benefits, the nondisclosure agreement, and vacation days. Before I knew it, he handed me a pen and directed me to sign on several dotted lines.

With each stroke of ink, it felt as if I was carving out my own path in life – one step closer to fulfilling my dreams and ambitions.

Once all of the paperwork was complete, Mr. Han shook my hand firmly and said, "Welcome aboard, Jennifer! Mr. Kim will be excited to finally have a cleaner for while he is not home. Now as we have not discussed is that this would be a live-in position. So I also need you to sign here..." Then he slid over one more sheet of paper about a live-in maid agreement.

As I walked back to the apartment, my mind raced with all the details I needed to iron out – telling Kenza about my sudden move, packing up my belongings, and mentally preparing myself for my new living situation.

The sun was still shining brightly in the sky, mirroring my optimistic outlook for the future. However, a small part of me couldn't shake the uncertainty that lingered. Despite it all, I knew that I couldn't let fear make decisions for me. When I arrived at our shared apartment, Kenza already had a quizzical expression on her face.

"What happened? You look like you've seen a ghost!" she blurted out, concern lacing her voice. Taking a deep breath, I dove into explaining how things transpired at the office – from the excitement of signing my employment contract to the unexpected turn it took when Mr. Han informed me of the live-in position. Kenza's eyes widened as she took in all the information – both of us still somewhat in shock at how quickly things were evolving.

"Wow, so you're actually moving out?" she finally asked. I nodded solemnly.

"Yeah... It all happened so fast, but I think this is what's best for me right now.

"For a moment, sadness washed over Kenza's face before she quickly shook it off and pulled me into a tight hug.

"Hey, even if we're not going to be roommates anymore, you're still one of my closest friends – and that will never change. Plus, this job could be an amazing opportunity for you!"Overwhelmed with gratitude for her understanding and support, tears welled up in my eyes as we embraced.

"Thank you so much, Kenza."

------

Over the next few hours which felt like they passed by in a blur – Kenza and I diligently packed up my belongings and prepared them for transport to Mr. Kim's penthouse. The process was a whirlwind of emotions, with us reminiscing on shared memories intermingled with periods of focused silence as we both contemplated what our lives would look like after this major change.
