Chapter Six: Daring Escape

Kenzie sat up after Deliah left. Bonecrusher would be back soon. She didn't know how much more she would be able to take of his torment. She pulled herself off the wall and to the bars of her cell door. The vines were somewhat slippery under her hands. As she pressed on them with her weight, they moved. Kenzie stood and looked at them. How had she not tried this sooner.

She pulled on the two vines in her hands. They moved easily. Soon, there was a hole in which she could leave. She slipped into the hole and ran down the hall. Since one of her legs still hadn't fully healed she had a slight limp.

The guard was making his rounds when he spotted her.

"Hey!" He yelled as he ran towards her. Kenzie didn't know what to do. So she just did what her body wanted to. Her fist went out and connected with the guards face. He fell to the ground and Kenzie took off.

She climbed the stairs and found herself in the main area of Arcadia. She could also see the back of Titania's throne, which she was sitting in! Moving quickly, she ran up another flight of steps, made of dirt and grass, and hid by a balcony. She positioned herself so that she could see out into the main area, but still see if someone was coming.

The guard she had punched was being dragged over to Titania by Bonecrusher. She stood and began to scream.

"WHERE IS SHE!? HOW COULD SHE ESCAPE!?" Titania was furious.

"You'll never control me." Kenzie yelled. Titania whirled around frantically trying to find the source of the voice. "I'll never bow to you. I'll fight as long as I can. Someone will stop you. I'll be free sometime."

"You think that. But who is out there looking for you?" Titania stood taller, or was she levitating because she was so angry? "NO ONE! NOT A SINGLE PERSON IS OUT LOOKING FOR YOU. YOUR PRECIOUS BOYFRIEND ISN'T EVEN CONCERNED ABOUT YOU!"

Kenzie felt like a dagger just went through her heart. No one was looking for her? How could that be? She thought that they cared about her, especially Ethan; especially him. A tear ran down her cheek as a sound came from the stairs. It was a red cap. He spotted her and began to scream for Titania. Kenzie ran over to stop him, but he clamped down on her arm with his teeth. Titania screamed as he began to pull her by her arm in his mouth out to Titania.

She smiled at the fey and told him to let go once Bonecrusher and another fey was by her ready to grab Kenzie.

"Thank you for finding her for me." She said.  Kenzie turned her head around to see if maybe she could get out, but Bonecrusher turned her head back to face the Queen of bitch.

"That was not a very good idea."

Titania looked down at Kenzie in disgust.  She smiled at the holes in her arm from the red cap who found her.  She could use that injury to her advantage.  She walked over and stuck a finger in one of the holes.  Kenzie screamed in agony.  "Think of this next time you think running out is a good idea."  She looked up at the men holding her.  "Bring her back to her cell.  Make sure she has three guards on her at all times.  Bonecrusher, you may have time with her as well.  Make sure she understands that acts like this will not be tolerated."  She glared at Kenzie then as Bonecrusher dragged her down to the dungeon.  Deeter followed close behind.

"My lady," asked Deliah, "How will you now keep this quiet from Oberon?"

"My dear child, with your help, he'll never know.  Thank you for your help by the way.  It's good to see that people still listen to their leader."  Titania smiled at nothing and walked off to an unknown area.

She walked out into her garden.  Most of the plants would hurt anyone else who touched them, but for their Queen, they retracted their thorns.  She sat there for a long time until one of her servants came running over and announced that Oberon was close to being home.  She walked with her and turned towards the dungeon.

"My lady?"  asked the servant.

"I need to tell our guest how to behave at the moment."

"Yes, my lady.  I'll wait by your seat and tell those who ask."

"Thank you."  Titania waited for her to walk away before she continued towards Kenzie.

She heard the laughing before she reached the cell.  It wasn't Bonecrusher's, or Deeter's.  It was Kenzie's.  The laugh was almost demonic, like she was crazy.  She walked faster and grabbed a guard's shoulder, spinning him.

"What has happened here?"  She asked.

"Bonecrusher dropped her, I heard her bones crack, and she began to laugh."  He pointed into the cell, Bonecrusher was standing over Kenzie.  His face showed confusion.

"Please tell me you did not break her."

"I sure hope so."

"Mortal," Titania snapped, "Tell me, why do you laugh like this?"

Kenzie turned to her.
