Kenzie pulled away from Ethan. The black in her eyes going away quickly. She looked around, everyone was watching them. She pressed into Ethan, maybe she could hide within him.
"No!" Titania roared.
"Titania. This fight is over. We're taking Kenzie back with us." Ash said. Meghan was crying too much to speak.
"The fight has not been won!"
"An exception. Neither died, but we got what we came here for. The fight is over." She stood in front of the them and turned to her and Ethan. "Go with Meghan."
Ethan grabbed her hand and lead her over to where Meghan stood. She ran over and hugged her. All of what happened just before were still with her. How could she have hurt Ethan? Cause him physical pain? It wasn't her.
Meghan rubbed a hand up and down her back as Ash stood in the middle. Mab sat and watched with a smile as Titania smoked out her ears and walked to her carriage. Ash turned to Mab. "Did we waste your time mother?"
"Oh no," she answered, "This was a wonderful way to spend a day. Did you see her face? Just wonderful. But I must be getting home." Without another word she stood and also got in her carriage. Both Summer and Winter rode off in different directions. Ash came over and spoke to Meghan, but not in a whisper.
"She gave up too easily. She'll be back for Kenzie. We need to keep her safe. Someone always with her."
Ethan took her from Meghan and kissed her head. How could he still love her after what she did to him, what she said to him? "We'll go back home. I'm sure Mom will understand. It's her parents that will be hard to convince."
"Are you sure?" Ash asked.
"Yes. I'm sure." He said giving Kenzie a squeeze.
They all got into the same carriage. Meghan, Ash, Keirran, Ethan, and Kenzie. She sat across his lap with her head in the crook of his neck. When they returned to Mag Tuiredh, Ethan and Kenzie found a trod by the train station. With a quick goodbye from everyone, the two of them jumped through and found themselves next in a park by Ethan's house.
"Can we just stay here for a bit?" Kenzie asked, holding his hand.
"Of course."
They sat down on the grass and stayed there until the sunset.
