Inside the Pham residence, a defeating silence and stillness permeated the air in terms of socialization. Only broken down by the soft footsteps of the maids as they wandered down the mansion to perform their usual duties of the day, which Hanni grew accustomed to even at a youthful age. It did take a toll on her back then, given that she's an only child with nothing but toys to console her loneliness. The feeling of emptiness could be overpowering, and it does get to you at some point.

She reclined on the couch, idly nipping on some chocolate chip cookies prepared just for her while the television played a strange cartoon that piqued her interest in the past.
She doesn't understand how she used to enjoy this environment as a kid.

Upon returning to the Pham residence after being fetched by the family car, Hanni was greeted with quietness instead of her father. The gentleman had not yet made his presence known to Hanni. When she inquired about his whereabouts, a nervous maid stammered that he was resting in the sunroom at the rear of the house, he made himself clear not to disturb his time before the clock strikes the afternoon.

With her father's absence, Hanni found herself alone in the house for the time being. That said, there wasn't much for her to do inside the residence, and to pass the time, she reminisced about the moment she turned 18. With the money she earned working under her father's wing, she decided to treat herself by purchasing an apartment that met her specific tastes and needs. After that, she rarely picked a time to visit this household.

Hanni's phone chimed with a call, the sound of the ringtone interrupting the stillness around her. She reached for her cell phone and examined the ID on the screen, Kang Haerin.

Hanni answered the ringing phone and put it on speaker, placing it on the side table as she continued to munch on her cookie. “What's up?”

“What in the world did you tell, Minji?”

she let out a small sigh, her voice sounding relaxed and calm. “Nothing much, why?” As she spoke, she continued to take bites out of her food, savouring every single flavour. “I just told her that the whole thing was a stunt for me so I could see her.”

"Are you so disconnected from reality that you were willing to risk your freedom just to get a glimpse of the person you're starting to like?”

Hanni let out a bark of laughter in response to Haerin's question, her tone playful. "Oh, Haerin, you know me so well!"

Hanni's voice turned more serious as she continued. "But honestly, I don't see it as a big deal. It's not like I'm hurting anyone by getting arrested for a little while."

Aside from her reputation and her relationship with her father, she's not really hurting anyone.

Haerin let out an exasperated sigh on the other end of the line. "You can't just commit to risks like that, Hanni."
