Two years had passed, and it was Aegon's second name day. Her father had arranged the royal hunt. She knew this was a chance to get back at Otto by using the white heart, and she was not going to let it go. So as she walked to the royal nursery dressed in her riding habit with Daemon by her side, she spotted a large grin on her face, something which Daemon found amusing.

When they reached the nursery, they found Aegon gurgling at the nursemaids. In the past two years, she had grown close to Aegon and so had Daemon much to her father's happiness. They often took him on  Caraxes and Syrax as her grandmother Alyssa did with her children, and Rhaenyra tried to spend time with him whenever she could.

When he saw both of them, he instantly reached for her calling her 'Nyra'. (In fact, that was the first word he spoke much to the smugness of the said princess.) The nursemaids happily passed him to her cooing at them both.

It was an open secret in the court that Prince Aegon preferred his sister and uncle to his mother. No matter how much Otto tried to cover it up, the servants whispered. Many ladies found it adorable, and they talked about how Princess Rhaenyra and Prince Daemon will be wonderful parents in the future.

Soon, Aegon's attention turned to Daemon and, more specifically, to his sword. Not wanting anyone to touch his precious blade, Daemon quickly distracted him with a wooden dragon. They lost track of time as next they knew a servant came to inform them they were requested in the courtyard.

All the attention turned to the three of them as they entered the courtyard. She held Aegon, who was trying to eat his wooden dragon, and Daemon walked  beside her. Otto's face instantly went blank once he saw them, while a large smile made its way to the king's face when he saw his 2 children and brother.

They soon joined him in the carriage, much to Daemon's displeasure, who tried to put much distance between him and the Hightower queen.

****************

In the carriage, the only ones who seemed to have fun were Aegon, her father, and Daemon. Three of them made a game out of dropping and picking the toy dragon, happily remaining oblivious and ignoring the tension between the Queen and the princess.

Rhaenyra was initially conflicted about whether to give a second chance to her former friend as she did with her brother. In the end, Rhaenyra was freed from the burden of making that choice as the Queen distanced herself and no doubt ran to her father. She wore green dresses publicly at every chance she got and formed her green council.

So, during the entire carriage ride, the queen and princess spent their time looking outside, ignoring each other.

Rhaenyra was relieved when the carriage reached its destination, but her relief turned to a barely concealed scowl when she heard the commotion outside.

"Hail Hail Aegon the conqueror-babe second of his name" was announced as her father and Alicent stepped out courtesy of Lord Hightower.

Daemon rolled his eyes, biting his lips to hold his laugh. When the maid came forward to take Aegon, Daemon waved her off and held him close and offered his hand for her to take, which she did, and they both walked out of the carriage.
