Kyle collapses on the couch after a long day of counseling as the kids run upstairs. He digs his phone out of his pocket to scroll on Twitter to unwind as much as Twitter will let him. He sees a news article on a disease that apparently turns people into zombies. He figures that the reporters are exaggerating as they typically do and scrolls on.

"Kyle, get the kids!" Julie yells as she slams the front door shut.

He shoots up and asks, "Wait, why? What's going on?"

"Just get the kids and tell them to pack some of their stuff. I'll tell you on the way," She tells him as she runs upstairs.

Kyle cocks an eyebrow before running up behind her. He jogs into the kids' room and tells them, "Mom says to pack your things, I don't know why, but make it quick."

He walks into his and Julie's room, where he finds her ripping through their closet.

"Babe, what's going on?" He asks.

"I told you, I'd tell you when we're safe and leaving this place! Can you pack up non-perishable foods, please?" She holds out a bag to Kyle, who begrudgingly takes it.

He runs downstairs and turns on the news for background noise. He goes to the kitchen and looks through the pantry. He takes cans of beans and corn, along with some crackers.

As he does this, the newsman calmly explains the situation: "According to the CDC, there is a virus called COVID-19 that is turning people into zombies . Asia has already been completely taken over, the world is next. Doctors in New Jersey report that a man came in saying he felt, quote, twitchy and out of it. A security guard for the hospital claims that something in the man snapped and he went crazy. He began attacking doctors at superhuman speeds and bit through the neck of Dr. Susan Roshwell. Other staff says she bled out but then came back in the same manner as the man and began attacking other patients and staff. The hospital was put on lockdown as the staff and guard tried to calm them. Some of the staff were also bit and soon there was a horde. They reportedly escaped the hospital and are now on the streets of Newark and on their way to Union."

Kyle looks over at the TV, mouth agape. This is what Jule was talking about. He thinks. He hurries to finish putting everything he could in the bag. After he finishes, he runs out to the car and shoves the bag in the back seat. He pulls his phone out of his pocket and calls his dad.

"Kyle?"

Kyle hears his mother in the background asking, "He's finally calling?"

"Yeah, it's me. You need to get Ma to grab any food you have and get down into the basement, something is going on."

He hears his parents conversing but can't make out what they're saying.

"Why?" Gerald asks.

"Turn on the news, just make it quick, ok?"

"Ok..."

Kyle quickly hangs up and runs back inside to the kids' room. "You guys done?"

"I am," Jacob begins. "Anna is taking forever."

Kyle nods with a sigh. "Give me your bag and help your sister."

Jacob hands Kyle his bag, who slings it over his shoulder. He pokes his head into his and Julie's room to see her struggling to close the suitcase.

"Dude, how much did you pack?" He asks and he kneels to help her.

Still struggling, she strains, "Only...the essentials."

Kyle puts his knee on top of the suitcase to push it down while Julie zips it up. Julie shoots up and runs outside with it. Kyle walks into the kids' room, where Jacob is trying to convince Anna to leave her lava lamp.
