Ethan's POV

I hear loud laughter coming from the room where all the others are and as soon as i walk in i see Flynn with a letter in his one hand and a tiny chest in the other, He's looking at the paper like its a goldmine.
"What the fuck is that?" Riley asks, just when i wanted too.

"It's a letter! Louis wrote a letter to his wife, Evelyn." Flynn says, basically pushing the letter into my face.

"So? Oh my god! He wrote a letter! Now we know exactly what happened to Olivia, Yay!" i put on a sarcastic smile and drop it immediately when i finish my sentence.

"We can't do shit with this." I add, walking into the chanel. Riley follows after me, and then Flynn and lastly Grace.

"What is your problem?" Flynn asks when im trying to walk out of the church.

"What's my problem? What is your problem? You think this letter is going to be any help? You are getting everybody's hopes up when this paper means nothing." I walk closer to him, facing him now.

"You don't know that. This letter could really help solve this whole thing,"

"I think you're full of shit."

I said, while Flynn was still waving around the letter, and then he said it,

"Don't you care about Olivia?"

"Don't you fucking say that," I spat at him,

"I actually spent time with her, you have spent all your time with Grace, you don't care about any of us!"
I throw my hands around vaguely pointing at Riley and Grace, and then, i walk off.

"Oh cry me a fucking river." Flynn walks behind me.

"Okay that's enough, let's just go back home, please?" Rileys suggests while Grace is running trying to grab her bag and the box with letters.

"Fine." Flynn and i say in sync, and we all start with the walk back.

I walk next to Grace, an awkward silence in the air untill i start speaking to her,

"What's in the letters?" I look over at the box she's holding.

"I haven't read them yet, but it's from Louis to his Wife Evelyn." She stutters slightly, Grace is a pretty nervous person overall, but i like her.

"You should read one." I tell her, and she does, her hands carefully picking one of the letters from the box, i'd say there are about ten letters stored in the dusty box.
She starts skipping over the letters and soon figures out they are sorted in the time they were written. I look back infront of me as Grace looks all of the letters over, until i suddenly hear a surprised and confused noise come from Grace.

"What?" I ask her,

"Nothing, it's just...Louis calls Evelyn his 'ex wife' in this one." She said, showing me the letter.

"That's weird." I brush it off.

"Yeah, it is." She says, putting the letter back and grabbing the next one, in which Louis complains about Evelyn not answering his letters, but then the next one gets weird again.

Louis is threatening Evelyn.

Grace shows me,

"Grace, maybe you should just put them down because it's stressing you out and i can see it, look at them later, just focus on getting back to the car now, okay?"

She takes a deep breath and nods her head, we all get back to the car.

Im laying in bed, watching youtube on my laptop when suddenly, i get a text,

'Please come over it's getting bad again.' It's Riley.

I know what that means so i immediatly text her back

'Want to take a walk?'

She texts me yes back and we meet up twenty minutes later at a park, i see her sitting on the swingset, her eyes red, probably from crying.

"Riley?" She immediatly looks up at me and smiles, walking up to me as i give her a hug, my chin resting softly on her head.

"Are you okay?" She nods, i know that's she's not, but i also know that when she says she's fine, she just doesn't want to talk about it.

She coughs and wipes the last few tears away, "Let's go for a walk."

I answer her with a smile and we start walking,

"What was it about this time?" I softly ask her.

"My parents, they kept yelling again and i got the headache i always get and i-.." She quiets down.
"Im sorry, Riley. You don't deserve that." i tell her as we walk side to side, our hands touching frequently with the steps we took.
Riley doesn't have an easy life, i've always known that, her past has been very hard, mostly her parents and something that happened a few years ago, i just don't know what it is, in fact,

I'm pretty sure nobody knows.

After about thirty minutes of walking, we sit down on a bench, it has slowly started to rain, tiny droplets landing on the fabric of my pants.

"Thank you, Ethan.." Riley says, i look at her, "For what?"
"Just being here," She says, making eye contact with me, "You're a really good friend."

Our eyes lock on eachother and i notice her leaning forward, knowing what she's about to do i lean forward too, slowly, but i do.
We're about to kiss, i rest my hand on her thigh.

"Ethan! Hi dear!" I suddenly hear behind me, when i look, i see my grandma, who is taking her dog, Lily, for a walk.
I quickly take my hand off of Riley's thigh and stand up.

"Hi grandma!" I try to sound excited, but deep down i know that i'm not, normally i would be, but Riley and i were just about to kiss.

"What are you doing here sweetpea?" She asks me, and i look at Riley.

"My friend Riley and i were just out to take a walk.."
My grandma has a whole conversation with us and after a few minutes Riley starts talking again.

"Ethan.. I really have to go home." She says as she puts her phone into her pocket.

"Okay, i'll walk you home." I respond, but before i can even completely say my sentence, she already walks off, around the corner, into the darkness.
