"Not so fast. Get back here" Jesy pushed her cub back further back into the den. It was way too cold for her to go outside. She would freeze almost immediately.

"I wanna go" The polar bear cub whined.

"It's too cold, Pezza. Wait until spring. Come cuddle with mama" Jade began grooming her cub when she came over.

"Are you hungry?"

"I want a seal, not milk mama. I'm big" the little one whined.

"You don't have much of a choice" Perrie huffed laying under her mama forcing herself to go to sleep. She hated it here.

-

"Here." Jade was going back and forth carrying seals and large fish from Jesy to Perrie.

They didn't usually do it but being that humans were hunting seals they had to stack up. Jade made a den just for their food.

"I'm tired mama"

"Just a few more, we don't know how long we're going to need food for."

Jesy dragged the last seal to the den for them to eat now. They were taking a little break from preparing for a food shortage.

"Let's go see how much we have" Jade suggested.

"Momma" Perrie whined when Jesy began to lick her face clean.

They walked over to their pantry den only to find that one third of their food was gone.

"What?"

"Where is all the fish?" Jade and Jesy looked at Perrie.

"I didn't do it!"

"This is why we don't let you out of the den"

"I didn't do it"

"Get inside"

"But momma. . . ." She dropped her head going back to their residential den.

It wasn't her fault. Perrie is a growing cub and she can eat up to fifty pounds of meat and blubber in one sitting.

However, she really didn't do it this time.

Later that night she heard shuffling, she quietly crawled out of the den careful not to wake her parents.

She was determined to find whatever it was that was stealing their food supply.

She quietly snuck into their den trying not to disrupt the skinny thing that was eating their food.

As she approached it the wild creature turned around and began to growl at Perrie. She screamed running out of the doorway. She began to dig up snow and ice putting it up in front of the entrance, trapping the thing in there.

"Mama!! I found it!"

"Found what Pez?"

"The thing that's been stealing our food supply."

"What Is it?"

"I don't know, go see" Jade began digging at the snow and ice that barricaded the entrance and when she went inside she noticed more food was missing.

"Perrie, bub"

"Yes"

"There's nothing in here"

"It is! I saw it. It was sitting eating all the fish"

"We have to find out why you're eating so much."

"Its not me, mama. I promise." Jade shook her head leading her back to their den to sleep.

"Maybe you need to fast for a little bit. You're not going to be able to keep up, you're always sleepy now."

Just as Jade said that Perrie yawned.

"You want me to hibernate?"

"No, we dont hibernate, maybe just sleep and relax for a few months."

"You're going to starve me? I need food mama."

"You won't need it. You already have a lot in your system, you'll be okay."

Perrie didn't understand why her parents didn't believe her. To make things worst the next day they made her a separate den miles away from their own.

She was a defenseless bear cub, she wasn't even grown yet. They never taught her how to hunt, she was going to die all alone.

"Please don't leave me here momma. I'm afraid" She begged.

" Fear is good." With that Jesy pushed perrie down the vertical entrance sending her a mile or two down. Perrie was afraid that she was going to fall into water and freeze.

Jade and Jesy sheltered her so much that she still hasn't properly adapted to the outside cold. Since birth she was in a warm den under her mama. She has never been outside longer than a few hours.

The first few hours was hard for her. She felt like she was going crazy and quickly lost tract of time. She decided to go to sleep.

-

The polar bear opened her eyes looking down at the thing cuddled into her She got up screaming in fear.

"Momma!!"

The little thing growled before running through a tunnel.

"What was that?" Perrie stuck her head into the medium sized tunnel, she pulled away when she saw the critter come back.

It had something in its mouth.

It put the cod fish down pushing it over to Perrie.

"You! It's all your fault I'm in here!" She launched at the human. Only the human was faster than her.

The little girl sat with her feet flat on the ground and her hands in front of her. It was clear that she was more in touch with her primal side. She picked up the fish.

"Nom, nom, nom" She showed Perrie what to do with it before putting it back down and pushing it over to Perrie.

Perrie ate the fish before laying back down, she figured the little thing wasn't a threat.

She came over to perrie wanting her body heat and warmth. She pushed her head under perries paw laying under her.

"Are you cold little human?" She didn't say anything, she balled up closing her eyes. Perrie did the same. All she did at home was sleep too but at least she made a friend.

She had on an animal skin, animal shoes and an animal hat that covered her wild messy hair.

"Wait. Get away! You're going to kill me and use my fur!!"

The human cooed and rubbed her head under perries chin.

"Promise you won't hurt me?" The human sat up scratching her head with her foot. She leaned over to Perrie, licking her cold nose. She took that as a promise.

"Do you have more food? I'm really hungry" Perrie watched the girl scramble into the tunnel.

She came back grumbling as she pulled something with her.

"Grrr!!" She fought with the live seal before biting into it. It began to flop away and the human climbed on it and began to fight with it more. Grumbling and growling as she did.

Perrie walked over and bit the animal's neck and it stopped moving. The human sat up clapping excitedly. Perrie tore some meat and blubber off pushing it towards her like her moms did for her. They sat eating together and this was the start of a new friendship.
