something out of nothing

something out of nothing

I saw her. I thought a lot of it.
She saw me. It was probably nothing.

The thoughts flash. Different scenes - all of which never happened. You could say it was a dream.

Friends. Thats what i wanted to be.
Wrong... I wanted more. But..
I don't know her. She doesn't know me.

At school, I glance at her.
Sometimes I'd catch her looking too.

We're at my house.
My room filled with laughter.

The silence occupies and we just stare.
The tension increases and I feel the need to lean in.

Then it happens.
The kiss.

It didn't last long.
We pull away not knowing what to expect.

We stare once again and seconds later,
it's like a switch had been flipped.

She runs outside the house, getting in her car and driving away.

No explanations.
No reasons.

It's another day in school.
I see her.

She's not looking back.
Instead, she's with someone else.

A guy.
Tall, curly hair, probably athletic.

The "dream" guy of some maybe.
Just a normal one in my eyes.

Building up the courage,
I pull her aside.

"Can we talk?"
"What's wrong?"
"About yesterday."
"What about yesterday? Nothing happened right?"

At that moment,
I knew it wouldn't be worth it.

When someone hides the obvious,
isn't that a big enough hint?

"Fine."
"Is that all?"

Just one more.
One more and it'll all be over.
"I'm sorry. I can't help it."

She gives me a confused look as I slightly look around for company.

I pull her in quickly for a kiss.
She's taken aback.

It's been a few seconds.
No response.

Accepting the truth,
I try pulling away.

Unexpectedly, I'm pulled in closer.
The kiss deepens.

I grab her waist and her neck for support.
It lasts for minutes.

Those lips.
Those eyes.
That smile.

We both pull away.
Our breaths clearly heard.

I take her hands in mine and look at her one last time.

I give her a smile.
"Thanks for everything."

I walk away, getting in my car.
Driving past her, the short-lived memories replay.

Although... were they even memories to begin with?

It was all an illusion.
A wish.
A dream.

I wake up, there's so many realities.
We're strangers. Thats all it is.

The wrong and right.
The expectation and reality.
Just two girls living their lives.

There's nothing going on.
I've just made something out of nothing.
