╰┈➤ ignoring the text from jackson, gabriela replied to her father.

'on my way, see you soon.'

she put her phone away, deciding to tell her two best friends about her dad's fiancée.

"uh guys, i need to tell you something."

▓ ▓ ▓ ▓

she told them all about her father's new fiancée.

"and look, i'm sorry to spring this on you guys with this whole werewolf thing but--"

"gabs, stop, you're upset, and as your best friends it's our job to help you." scott interrupted the girl.

"thanks." she told the boys, trying not to cry, "stiles can you drop me home?"

"yeah, 'course."

and the rest of the drive was silent, beside from the crappy radio music playing in the jeep.

they reached gabriela's house, and she stepped out of the car, not saying a word.

she unlocked the door to her house, and walked in.

"papá, estoy en casa" (dad, i'm home)

no answer.

"dad?"

no answer.

gabriela scoffed, "unbelievable."

she mentally withdrew her comment, however, when her father came in, through the kitchen.

"gabby? we need to talk."

"about what?"

"your mom."

gabby felt a bubble in her throat, "what about her?"

"she, uh, she died. last night. i got a call."

gabriela's mom was... difficult to say the least. an absentee alcoholic, mentally abusive, a liar, a cheat, and a terrible mother. being that her father traveled a lot, gabby practically raised herself. whenever her mother was drunk, she would often stay the night at either stiles' or scott's. she wanted nothing to do with her mother, and as much as she hated to say it, the divorce of her parents was the best thing that ever happened to her. until her father started re-marrying.

"and? why does that concern me, dad?" gabriela spat, turning away from her father to take her shoes off.

"¡gabriela! ¡es tu mamá! muestra respeto." (that's your mom, show respect.)

"no! she may have been my mother, but she was never my mom." a tear spilled down her face, then another, and another.

"querida, i just want for us to go to her funeral. no angelina, just you and me."

"you go, dad. i'm staying here."

"i'm not leaving you again." he said, pleading.

"i'll stay with scott or stiles. i'm not going." she said, feeling guilty deep down, "besides, i can't leave it's the beginning of the semester, i'd miss too much."

her dad sighed, running a hand down his face, "okay."

"okay?" she said turning towards her father, not expecting him to agree that quickly, or at all.

"okay. my flight is in three days. i'll call the sheriff, arrange for you to stay there," he paused, then walked towards the girl, hugging her, "i love you, gabriela."

she hugged him back, "love you too, papá"
