An hour later Airspace, Fawn and Wrangler were discussing the events of the battle with some guardsmen. Chemigirl watched as her mother was unmasked, restrained and forced into a car. Toxic, or rather Ivy, glared at her as she was driven away.
President Sabrina was going off on a chief about not telling her about Toxic earlier.
Draco disappeared awhile ago.
Aiden was texting Pollux.
Miss Miranda started physical therapy. Doc figures rehabilitation will take six months but she won't recover completely.
Yeah...that's what Forest figured too. Toxic is behind bars now. She won't hurt anyone else.
u know its not ur fault, right?
Aiden left the text on read and put his phone away.
"Remind me to get you some proper Powerine clothes," Ranger said behind him.
Aiden looked down at his own dirty and torn clothes. "Oh yeah, that fight was more hectic than I expected."
"I have a friend who can make something for you. And maybe Keira can learn how to make batons soon." Ranger tilted her head. "Are you okay?"
The question caught him off guard. "Just wondering about Toxic's powers and what happened to Keira's dad," he lied.
Ranger gave him a worried look. "If you say so..." Whiskers sat on her shoulder, not looking convinced either.
"Are you gonna be okay?" Bliss asked, putting her hand on Chemigirl's shoulder.
"It is going to take some time but yes, I will be okay."
.....
Webbigail laid on her hospital bed, happily writing in her journal. Arachnia and Spinnerett fussing around her.
"Can we get you some water?"
"Is your pillows fluffy enough?"
"Is the sunlight too much? We can close the blinds."
"I'm fine my loves!" Webbigail exclaimed, half exasperated, half amused.
"But If you need anything..." Spinnerett started.
"I'll let you know." She smiled. "You two are free to rest too, you know. Its been a long month for all of us."
"But what if you need something?" Arachnia asked.
"Like my partners to quit fussing for five minutes?" Webbigail teased, causing the other two to rub the back of their heads.
"How's it going?" Bliss asked from the door.
"Doc says she need to stay in the hospital for a few weeks to recover," Spinnerett explained. "But she'll make a full recovery."
Bliss smiled. "That's good to hear."
"I'm just glad it's all over," Arachnia said. "I can't believe we're not going to prison."
"You were being blackmailed. You didn't have much of a choice." Bliss explained. "And I'm sorry to drag this out but you are going to have to testify against Toxic. You're invaluable witnesses to us."
"No problem." Spinnerett was stroking Webbigail's hair. "Also you should know, I found something when we were still working for her."
Arachnia dug through her bag and pulled out a leatherbound book. Bliss took it and turned to the page bookmarked with a letter.
"I was hoping to find something to hold against Toxic so she'll free us," Spinnerett explained. "I figured that book could be used but I couldn't figure out what was so important about it."
