Title: The Rogue Prince I
Character: Terran
Time: During Chapter 4 - OrkneyTerran Dean hadn't planned to do anything for his birthday, but Valentine threw an arm over his shoulder and dragged him into town. They had gone into a tavern, where Halsted had been waiting for them.
It had started as just the three of them, a small celebration for the prince's seventeenth birthday. But then Ale got involved. Valentine had egged on his two companions, and all three ended up drinking too much.
It hadn't taken long for Terran, influenced by the alcohol, to get the whole tavern involved. People were quickly dancing and singing. They had even begun playing games, tossing coins into cups and whatnot.
It was evening by the time the three returned to the castle. Laughing and stumbling all the way. But they walked slowly and stopped by a few shops that were still open, giving themselves time to sober up as much as possible. Terran had decided to immediately head to the room that had been given to him. It would be embarrassing to face anyone in this state.
It was just as he stood in front of his door that Merlin appeared. She temporarily returned to inform Arthur about her progress in making allies.
"There you are!" She said excitedly, "You've been gone since this afternoon. I was beginning to think you had gotten lost."
"No, I was merely celebrating." He tried his best to seem as sober as possible, "Were you looking for me?"
The mage of flowers had a sly look in her link eyes. A look Terran likely could have noticed if he were entirely sober.
"Celebrating? Don't tell you left poor me out of it." She faked a pout, "What were you celebrating?"
"Today is my birthday." He said, "Valentine insisted on going into the city for it."
"Your birthday?" She seemed to be thinking before smiling mischievously, "A momentous occasion indeed! You should have said something earlier. I didn't prepare a gift."
"No gift is necessary. We haven't even known each other long." Terran panicked a little, almost speaking a little too fast.
"Eh? But we traveled all this way together! And here I thought we were friends."
"We are! Sorry, I didn't mean for it to sound that way." He panicked a little more.
Merlin seemed to accept his apology. Terran could almost see as something crossed the succubus's mind.
"I've got it! Let's have our own little celebration with the king!"
Merlin looped her arm around his, hugging it close to her body before dragging him down the hall.
"M-merlin! Let me go." He pleaded, his face becoming flushed from embarrassment.
She giggled at his struggling and continued pulling him in the direction of the kings room.
"Oh? And what's going on here?"
Morgan had found the two of them, Merlin dragging the blushing prince with his arm hugged closely to her body.
"We're going to see Arthur!" Merlin said cheerfully, "Turns out he's been in the city celebrating all day. I thought we should celebrate too."
Terran's eyes seemed to plead with her to help him, but she gave a closed eyed smile.
"Then I shall join you." She said.
-------
Terran was in the kings personal quarters, a large and open room complete with a table that the four of them now sat at.
"I didn't know today was your birthday."
Arthur filled his cup with wine. Great, more alcohol. Just what he needed. He'd have sighed if he didn't think that it would seem rude. So Terran began drinking for the second time that day.
"I didn't think it was worth mentioning." Terran told him, "You already have a lot to pay attention to."
"Nonsense. You are my knight and friend." The king said, "I would like to celebrate it with you."
"I did wonder why you asked for the day off." Morgan mentioned, "You went and celebrated without us."
She was teasing him, he realized. She wore a grin and rested her face on her hand. He could feel his face growing red once more, from both the wine and the attention he was receiving. Because of her and Merlin, Terran had decided that beautiful women and alcohol do not go well together.
"I thought it best to celebrate alone." Terran drunkenly explained, "It was Valentine who dragged me from the castle."
"That's even worse."
Merlin, who sat next to him, rested her head on his shoulder. He jumped in suprise, not expecting the mage to do such a thing.
"You shouldn't be alone on such a day." She looked up at him, smiling in a strange way.
It made him nervous to have a woman so close. He was inexperienced in this field. Had he stayed in Ravenhill, then he might have been betrothed to some noble girl by now. But he didn't stay. And he was more drunk than he had ever been before. If he was sober, he would have been able to deal with these attractive women much better.
"P-please get off me." He pleaded.
"I think that's enough." Arthur laughed but seemed serious with his words, "He seems to have learned his lesson."
The rest of the evening went on like this.
