Chapter 11: Stings of The Past

Over the next few days, Trent and Loona have been acting like usual, Trent, being the kind, joking new guy with hidden talent, Loona, a gothic chick. But when they exchanged glances at each other, filled with curiousty of what happened to the other. When Trent went to work one day, however, the only one there was Loona. "Oh, hey Loona, what's up?" She chuckled as she stared at him, "Trying to solve the world's hardest puzzle: You."

It was his turn to chuckle, "Yea, same here, your a enigmatic woman Loona." She couldn't help but grin, "Do I confuse you Trent?" To which he grinned as well, "Yep, you act cold to everyone except for me, why's that?" She wasn't smiling anymore. "Trent, if I told you, I... I'm worried you wouldn't look at me the same." That hit him like a freight train.

"Why's that?" He asked, to which she sighed, worried. "Ok, I'll make you a deal, if I tell you what happened to me, you tell me what happened to you Trent, deal?" Thinking it over, he nodded, anything to known what happened to the girl he loved. She closed her eyes, and muttered under her breath as she knew digging up that particular part of her past was hard, after it took so long to bury it. "Ok..."

"When you was adopted, no one was there to protect me. I knew a little of what you showed me about fighting, but it didn't help when there was 6 of them. The older ones, teens from 17 to 18, they was able to hurt someone badly and... And do things to them. They... They bullied me, hit me, ripped my clothes, and..." She stopped for a second as a tear fell from her eye. "They raped me, Trent. It wasn't over quickly, it lasted hours, and, it hurt, and, they robbed me of the one thing I wanted to give, only to you. That's why I try to keep my heart as solid as stone to everyone, why I'm so cold to people."

As she looked down at the floor, he slowly hooked his finger under her chin, and gently made her look him in his eyes, which was letting tears flow like rivers, "Loona, I didn't know. If I knew they was going to do that, I'd have done everything in my power to have kept you safe." Through her tears, she smiled, only a little, and held his hands, "I know you would have, and I don't blame you for what happened, so don't put my burdens on yours." As they smiled to each other, Trent sighed, "I suppose it's my turn..."

"When I was... 'Adopted,' I was actually recruited to be a slave, by a very vile man. He only chose Hellhounds because we are 'Expendable' and 'Replaceable.' But through my training with the bastard, if i made a mistake, lost a fight, he'd beat me, but what I never did was show mercy." She looked to him with confusion, "Why?" With a heavy heart, he looked into her eyes, "Because those who showed mercy was dragged into the lower chambers, tortured through the night so we would hear their screams, as a warning, and then, they were killed."

She couldn't help but clasp her hands over her mouth to stop a gasp of sorrow, "But a few years ago, I escaped, but a fruitless endeavor as it turned out, I had no food, or water, and on the third day, halfway through the day, I fainted, and laid there for who knows how long." When he looked up at Loona, she had a look of worry on her face, "How'd you manage to pull through?" He shook his head, "I didn't, I did something demons never do, I prayed, I begged God to let me die, so the pain would end, but instead, he sent someone to save me."

She hoped he was going to say he was joking about praying. He never said he was. "The man who saved me, he kept me safe for 5 years, and trained me to use... Something important." "Which is?" He wanted to tell her, but he couldn't, luckily, Blitzø, Millie, and Moxxie returned, "Hello guys! What's up?" Both Loona and Trent chuckled and spoke in unison, "Nothing." As Trent got up, he whispered in Loona's ear, "Maybe someday I'll be able to tell you."
