As Trent drifted to sleep that night, he was worried he'd dream about the Labyrinth of black walls and white corners and a monster in it's endless corridors, the same dream he has been having for months now. But tonight, something was different, when his eyes opened, he wasn't in the Labyrinth, but in a hallway, it's columns holding up the stone roof, open to a beautiful sight on both sides, like the Aurora Borealis but in many different patterns and colors, truly God was painting this dream tonight, or rather, something close to God in Trent's mind.
As Trent walked through the hallway, he felt, odd... Like he was at peace suddenly. As he looked around, he saw a figure that looked just like him, only without the eye patch, and dressed in Nordic armor, and a lot older. "Dad?!" The figure smiled, and opened his arms wide, to which Trent ran up to the figure and hugged him. "Indeed my son, it is so good to see you again, I haven't seen you since-" he was cut off by Trent, "Since I was sent to the Orphanage." A grim look fell onto Valin's face, clearly he made mistakes, "Yes... And I'm so sorry I couldn't be in your life my son... Me and your Mother both."
Trent looked down for a second, but when he looked back up, he was smiling, just a bit, "Dad, I forgave you for that a long time ago." Valin wasn't smiling, clearly, even though his son forgave him, he didn't forgive himself. "Hush for a moment my son," Valin said, softly, "You already know what you are, but why you hide it, it astounds me." Trent looked to the lights outside of the hall as he sighed, "Dad... I don't want to be seen differently by those I care about... I don't want the woman I love to hate me for what I am."
Valin understood, to a point, "Trent, you need to understand that with great power-" Trent groaned, slightly annoyed, "Don't tell me the same thing I heard for the last 5 and a half years now or I'll wake up now." Valin was clearly annoyed as well, "I know how cliche it sounds, but it's still the truth, With great power does come great responsibility!" It was true, and Trent knew that. "Dad," he started, "I just... I don't wanna lose the only woman in the world who makes me feel whole." As the former Chieftain of a grand tribe of Hellhounds sat beside his sone, he sighed.
"Son, your the heir to the most noble group of Hellhounds known in the records of Hell, Duran Bane! And your the son of the most powerful Hound of God, Moira, and yet... Your afraid? Do you realize you can bring stability to Hell, end the suffering and ease the pain?" Trent nodded, he did know what he was capable of, "Yea, but I'm also capable of killing anything and anyone who crosses my path, questions me, or forces my hand, and I'll crave the carnage and death. I'm two sides of a coin... One side Pure and good, the other Malevolent and evil. And those 10 years with... 'Him,' has made the Malevolence stronger in me." Valin placed a gentle hand on Trent's shoulder, "But those 5 years with the 'Guardian of the Balance,' you slowly regained what made you pure."
Trent shook his head, "He made me kill... Yes, they was evil, and Hell-bent of corrupting Hell even further, then Earth, and eventually, Heaven, but I still was forced to take lives-" "He gave you the choice." Trent looked to his father, who was scowling at him, "He never made you kill like your master before him, but gave you the choice, and you did what you thought was right." Trent sighed, he couldn't lie to his Father, he knew that, he didn't know why he thought he could lie to his father.
"Trent, go to Bee's party with your woman, have fun, you earned it after all these years." Trent went to argue about him not drinking, but when he looked, his father was gone, and the lights was disappearing. He was waking up. And when he did, he sighed, but he saw he had a message from Loona.
Loon🐺❤️: Trent, the party is tomorrow night, you 100% certain you don't want to go?
